How would you improve Penn State's WHITEOUT atmosphere?

Georgia's red lights were a nice twist to their "red out." Imagine Beaver Stadium completely covered in black lights, like the locker room. Wonder how that would look on TV.

Also, I emailed Guido like 10 years ago to say the brightness of the WHITEOUT seemed to have gone from a 10 to a 9. He said it was possible as they changed the floodlamps to a more energy efficient bulb.

Eliminate the piped in brutally loud music.
Including the amplified blue band sound.

Allow there to be a few moments when there's no sound at all. Allow the students to think up some chants on their own, without the guide on the PA system. Allow the crowd to "breath" on it's own... stop trying to sell us nonstop with commercials, or get us jacked up constantly with constant blasting on the crappy PA system, causing half the stadium to hold their ears, and the other half not being able to hear anything.

Nothing against Dean, but I also think it might be time to transition the stadium play by play announcer as well.... He's gotten a bit too mayberry for my taste, I feel like his tone used to come off as more stern, and too the point. Now the guys sounds like a narrator for Disney.

This ^^.

PSU should use the blue or black lights at the white out. The entire stadium would glow. Lighting seems to be the new trend with Bama and Georgia doing the all red and FSU changing lighting colors in 1 end zone.

You could do the European soccer flair thing.......

On the other hand, the people who run PSU would likely lose their flippin’ minds and call in PA state police helicopters to make bombing runs at the crowd dropping water like it was a wildfire. ;)

Same way they could enhance every home game..... find a way to get everyone into their seats a good 10-15 minutes BEFORE kick-off. The last 2 white-outs have been huge top 10 games for us. 2017 vs. Michigan and last year vs. Ohio St. Not only were they white-outs, but they were gigantic top 10 games. Yet the upper areas of the West and East sections towards the South Endzone (student sections) remained empty well into the 1st Qtr.

They seemed to do a better job with the piped in music and loudness of it for the Pitt game.

Are you familiar with the old line about “if it ain’t broke...”?

The white out has been identified as one of the best traditions in college football. Let’s work on our third down efficiency or game day traffic and parking.

Somehow, Penn State ain’t broke...yet. So they won’t fix it.

Need to make the Blue Bands halftime show a lot louder than it was last year. Shouldn’t take less than a week for my ears to recover.

Those horizontal screens between the lower and upper decks: use them as a responsive horizontal decibel meter so the crowd can see how much noise they're making. In other words a blue bar increasing and decreasing with crowd noise. It would encourage crowd noise.

An Aztec like human sacrifice at halftime?

Enhance the White Out by letting the students pick the game or games they wish to be a white out. When a Marketing Hack picks the game, I lose a lot of enthusiasm. Same goes for a Strip Out.

It does not have to be an evening (football) game to be effective way to support a PSU athletic event; it has to be genuine student (fan) support.

Automatic win would definitely improve a whiteout atmosphere. Not a great record for us in whiteout.
