I thought I read that Franklin said he was going to have some

I think Franklin is making the moves that he thinks he needs to make it his program. As far as Geno is concerned he has a degree and was not getting the playing time as in years past. Wish him luck in his graduate courses and thank him for his contribution to PSU

difficult conversations with players after the bowl game. We might be seeing the result of those conversations.
Bingo. Seems like a lot of folks expect championship football from Franklin, but then criticize him when he tells some players that they won't be seeing much playing time if they stay and they leave. I don't have a problem with getting rid of anyone, players or coaches, who don't want to buy in to what Franklin wants his program to be and I think that has clearly been the case in more than a few situations. In a couple years, his critics may be right and he won't cut it, but for now, let him get his players in and see what happens.

CJF has stated that his goal is to have kids get their degree in 3 years. So, this sort of turnover was part of his plan, and everyone should start getting use to this.

Agree with this on many levels. Listening is the key. No man is a Saint but this one sets out to do what he says. Just the opposite of what those who disagree, try to project him to be. From his first bold declarations about his dream job, a Penn State heart, dominate the State, not being outworked, graduating students, the great Joe Paterno, unifying and healing, etc. He meant it all. It only sounded to the cynical like corny, over zealous, coach speak. He believes it and followed up with actions to make believers of any who listen. Most recently he said Coach Moorehead would be observing and evaluating everything and there would undoubtedly be some tough honest discussions with many in the program. Listen, and believe is what we are being taught. Like it or not.

So, if I understand you, it's ok in your mind to run off kids that committed to Penn State during a tough time to make room for bigger, faster, stronger athletes to enter in the coming years? That's great and all, but at what point does this stop? CJF doesn't have time for roster management. This isn't some 10 year experiment. This is a 10 win/year mandate that isn't being met.

you do realize that he has not yet even had a full roster, let alone a full roster of his players?

I can't speak for BlueBlood, but I think the spirit of CJF's statement "Graduate kids every 3 years" is NOT the same as what you 'understood' as running off kids.

Not sure how he said whatever, but I said, like it or not, and no man is a Saint.

Better to have them graduate after three years as opposed to leaving after three years to chase the NFL without a degree

Well Mr. Franklin, who I want to greatly succeed better up his in game coaching too because I count at least one loss each year on his horrible mismanagement in game. Maryland and NW specifically come to mind.

I think you are almost certainly right.

I don't know why everybody is so upset.

Seems to me that everything is going almost exactly according to plan.

I am upset cause Reeder was one of the first to commit when this team was sanctioned and stood with us, now you are going to give him bad news?

Seems pretty shady to me for a program that everyone thinks is above that stuff.

None of the changes are a huge surprise except Reeder. Kid was on all b10 frosh team. He would have played a lot in next three years.

Nobody knows they are just speculating. Sounds to me like Reeder wanted the opportunity to go home and play where his dad was a star and his brother now will be on team. He said he wants to play 3 years with his bro where his dad was that in 80s and that life is too short not to be happy. Good for him. I just think he was home sick, it happens. I highly doubt Franklin told him to fly a kite. Kid started most of the year and would have been top backup this year and had probably 2 more years of playing time. Perhaps his grades were not up to par, we don't know.

Franklin did mention how some players grades were not up to par that we have no idea about after the season and before the bowl game.

In the case of Lewis and Wooten he's doing them both a tremendous favor by laying out where they in the grand scheme of things. The "graduate" transfer is very common today and if these guys don't want to spend their last season on the sidelines, they're better off moving on. They have their degree. Franklin doesn't really owe them anything.

In the case of Worely, here's a kid that had a bad injury, is buried in the depth chart, had 3 years left of eligibility and could just as easy want a fresh start. There's no indication he was run off but need only look at who's in front of him to see he's still going to have a hard time seeing the field.

Second guessing decisions is part of some folks. No matter what?
Frankly, Reeder made some big plays and many more give aways. He was not ready when he was thrown into fire. Most of the time he was out of position by taking wrong angles.

Good luck to him and best wishes.
