If not PSU, who would you most like to see succeed?

Im going with my Alma Mater, Bloomsburg.....We used to have some pretty strong teams. I would love to see them compete on the Penn State, Iowa Level.

I have to agree with some on here that with all the PA talent on the Iowa roster, it does not upset me that they are very good right now:) PA STRONG!!!
I went to Bloomsburg in 1980. They were just starting to break top 20
By 1987 , with the Bonomo brothers they finished 5th in Nationals.
Top 5;. 1st Iowa State 2nd Iowa
3rd Penn State 4th Okla. St 5th Bloomsburg

Its funny seeing Iowa come up multiple times. Can you imagine on HR if anyone said they wanted to see PSU win? ;)

I’m a sports fan and fan of the athlete first. I not only don’t hate Iowa, I generally root for them in other sports.

Having been a PSU fan since I learned to talk (no, not last year), they are just not a big rival for me. Strangely enough, I always kind of liked Iowa when they were winning wrestling championships. It is foreign to me how HR hates us so much they stop thinking straight. For me, I can’t help not liking tOSU, Michigan, Miami, etc, etc. (that is a lifetime of football showing), but I don’t hate, not even close.

One of the things that has really drawn me to wrestling is the quality of people who participate, from coaches to the wrestlers themselves. While there are always exceptions, it seems like most schools you look at have the same story…..hard working, intelligent, mature, solid citizens, people you can be proud of. Wrestling seems to build and even almost require it to be at this level.

For me, though I know they aren’t close, I would love to see any of the service academies win. They take the “wrestling mindset” to the next level in every area of their life.

(also the Haven, where my Dad is from)
We didn't all stop thinking straight, I'm an Iowa fan and I don't hate Penn State. I think we are tired of you guys winning the NCAA tourney. Lol
We haven't had a turn for awhile.
I'm a HUGE fan of your wrestlers on team USA. David Taylor is my favorite. (I do catch some flack for that) I love to watch him wrestle. How can you not?
Hope he's 100% by the trials, love to see him get an Olympic gold!

Good to hear. I know you are right, but its hard to get past the “noisy” ones. Most of the people I came to appreciate and listen to on HR over the years, rarely if ever post anymore. Then again I wouldn’t even know because the only time I go there now is for Vallholl’s weekly results. I just don’t have time or energy for the negativity.

Thanks for checking in. The thing I miss the most is getting another fan base’s viewpoint on wrestlers. I like to hear a viewpoint without my blue and white glasses. Hopefully if Iowa wins one, things will calm down a bit….but I will suffer with it if we pull one out again. ;)

I'll suffer if you win again too! Lol
Good luck brother. Should be a great tourney either way!

Number 1 is Edinboro due to being my Alma Mater
Number 2 is Pitt since I live in Pittsburgh and follow a lot of former WPIAL wrestlers which they tend to get quite a bit of

In terms of Wrestlers I notice myself rooting for a lot of WPIAL guys

I also root for Kollin Moore, his entrance song being The Black Keys at NCAA’s got some mad props from me

Whether a historic great, a perennial 2nd tier team that just hasn't pushed through, a new kid on the block (no boy band gifs, please), or a program that has never sniffed the top 10 . . . who would you like to see win a team title in a year PSU can't do it?
I'll probably go with the PAwks! How can we not pull for those PIAA state champs?

NA, I would have refereed you at one of your preseason scrimmages in your room. I patched up only to learn the rules better and the chapter encouraged us to take work like that to get experience. I only refed a few things a year.

I did that scrimmage for two years and one of the years before I and the other refs entered the room, there were at least 4 former state champs who were NA alums that came back to work with you guys. (You had a full workout before the scrimmage). When I saw those guys leaving I thought no wonder NA cleans the clock in Section 3, you can't beat those guys as practice partners. Note that this was before all the clearances and liability issues existed.

Bloomsburg for me, (Class of '84) I was at the Cole Field house for Bloomsburg's fifth place finish. Ricky is a pretty good bow hunter too.

We did have a ton of support from our alumni which really helped our success. It was awesome seeing guys like Ty Moore and Ray Brinzer come in and help work out with us.

I only went 1 year (1980). Most fun I ever had, hence only the 1 year.
1980 Bloomsburg team had some real good kids on it. Don Reese later in career came in 2nd. Dom Digiconomo? got pinned in OT against True Freshman Matt Reiss (Liberty HS, NC State) who went on to win Nationals
Dom later became coach at ESU but got in Sandusky like trouble. The Macullom?brothers I believe got into coaching.
