Guy resurrected one of the worst programs in college football and they have never been the same since he left. Six bowl games at Rutgers that's Bill Snyderish. Guy has extensive NFL experience as both a head coach and a position coach. I know his record at Tampa wasn't great but Nick Sabans wasn't at Miami either. Coached under Urban, Paterno and Butch Davis. Has extensive experience at the college level not just as a head coach but as a defensive coordinator at both Miami and tOSU. Recruiting ties to Florida. Just who in the hell do UT fans think they could get with a better resume than that?

I heard rumors he turned down the Oregon job. That, IMO, is a 10x better job than Tennessee.

The insanity is that none of those protesting against Schiano know the process. Maybe there are, in the universe, X number of potential candidates who are better than Schiano, all of them were contacted, and none were interested/or those interviewed turned the offer down. So where are they now? Best case is that they're going to have to pay a lot more for a decent coach. Worst case: they have to give the job to Bob Shoop (anyone wanna bet that if that happens the yayhoos associate him, with Sandusky?). Yeah, give it to Bobbie, he'll take anything.
I'm not a champion for Greg Schiano but to bring up Sandusky to pretend like that's the reason not to hire him is hypocritical and pathetic.
Vols fans just didn't want Schiano. because, I don't know, no one asked THEM how THEY feel . . . petulant, entitled whiners.
My guess is Schiano was between 7-10 on the list of names. Vols fans act like they're a Playboy model, when even Swank wouldn't put them on a spread

first, i hope UT gets stuck in a long search for the "perfect" coach and it goes a few months. they deserve to crap out of this. Schaino's PSU connection was used against him.
Paul Feinbaum had a good view re your look at WHO is protesting Schiano. he said the dreamers (alumni and fans) who were self delusional and thin UT is the garden of eden. the other groups protesting are people in the area along with students and faculty who largely do not care about football program. he said many dont know football and probably dont even attend games. they are part of the sexual assault focus group. they are attacking any one on that topic
Greggie turned his staff over almost every other year because he was impossible to work for (Donofrio could get out fast enough), he actively recruited and signed a KNOWN two time convicted juvenile sex offender, had one of his starting linebackers call him out in public for being a phony with anger management issues, rehired an assistant who had been arrested for abusing a woman, had more than a fair share of players get in trouble with the law, and conspired with his AD to hide his total compensation from NJ taxpayers. If character and people skills aren't an issue then the Gorilla is your man.
