Seems logical, although drew is absolutely in a position to play himself into a high draft pick over the next 6 weeks.
Maybe the reason isn't Allar. Perhaps it's Grunkmeyer?
Man, leaving immediately? Not even going to stick through the playoffs? Awful
Why didn't we see Grunk in action this year if that was true?

I'd learn towards it being the case only since Beau would've been competing for the starting job and even potentially the favorite to land it.
No our football savant Lando told us unequivocally that no one would skip out on playoff games. He’s an expert. And he’s a Penn State fan. He would never lie to us.
He will not be with the team for the CFP run.
I'm not sure why Beau would declare now unless Drew announced he was returning.
I also don't know why Drew would announce his return unless he was already promised a huge NIL deal.
That was my first thought as well. He has to know Allar is back next year. I wish the young man well.
I really think this rule has to change. Scholarship & NIL $$ should be tied to participating through the entire season.
Part of the problem is that the portal opens before the playoffs/bowls and closes before the playoffs/bowls are completed. The system invites this mess.

He didn't want to get left out in the cold by waiting until our playoff run is over. Would like to know the full story about the progression of events leading to his portal entry and decision to announce now, and leave now.

Name a backup that put more tape on film than Beau did this year without the starter being benched or missing games due to injury.
I watch a lot and I can't name one.
I wonder if Allar is certainly staying or is still uncertain. Beau decided he needed something clear and had to make the move. Hope Grunkemeyer has been getting the reps in practice.
If Allar plays real well and wins 3 or 4 games, I'm afraid we could lose both.
I’d be surprised if Allar returns. Think about it. Warren will be gone and most likely Allen and Singleton. Also, with a horrendous WR room it does not make sense for Allar to return without any offensive weapons.
Allar must have decided that he’s coming back regardless of his CFP performance. My guess is that PSU was able to lock in a NIL contract will Allar hence the Beau announcement today.

Anyone a little shocked he's leaving before the playoffs? This sport at the college level is a huge mess now, the idea that these players leave during the playoffs? That is just wild.
He has no choice if he want to transfer. Portal closes Dec 28 and doesn’t reopen until April. The system is a travesty
That isn't his issue. Our players can enter up to the 5th day after our playoff run.
His issue is a landing spot. If he waits, his options decline.
While that’s true, all players on a playoff team have the option to enter the portal after their season are. Only those players whose season is over (bowl games do not count as the season) have to enter their names now. Beau could have waited and put his name in after their run. Guessing he doesn’t want to get lost in the portal shuffle and grab a seat while the music is still playing.
Either that or Beau just didn't want to take the chance. He had to decide about the portal by December 28th. Drew doesn't have to make his decision until January 15th.

He would declare now to have a better choice of teams. He would start with new team in January …. He’s likely graduating from PSU in Dec., or soon after. ) If he waits till after the CFP, many teams will already have their QB. —He can definitely start somewhere. I’d look at former coaches with new teams first …..VT, Duke.
— Competition with Grunk did not cause this move. Either Allar is coming back ( 99% likely) or he had a dust up with Franklin.
Regardless, good move for him. —-( this new version of college football sucks. Unregulated NIL and multiple unmanaged portal dates , CFP calendar , have forced undesirable moves by college students)

Beau could have easily "demanded" that he be told he was the starter next year or he was leaving
