Interesting results from the last weekend of duals

Not a result yet but Cael Valencia is hanging with Labriola. Valencia is down 6-5 after escaping to start the 3rd.

Assad over Whitlake. 4-2. I’m a little surprised given how little Assad has wrestled.

Angel Rivera doing Angel Rivera things with an utterly ridiculous Stalemate call in Surber-Warner match.

Surber has Warner in a partial headlock after taking him down - Warner flat on his side fighting from being turned for 45 seconds and Ruvera bails him out with a Stalemate call as Surber continued to try and turn him????? Just an utter joke of a call and Warner got an escape off re-start.

Rivera gave him that match.

Rivera gave him that match.

Has to be one of the most ridiculous calls I've ever seen. Doesn't call stalling on Warner - but calls a Stalemate bailing Warner out of a danger-position where he'd been turned 90 degrees and was fighting being turned more for 45 seconds directly off a takedown??? How on earth is that a "Stalemate"?

Wasn't Voinovich pretty highly rated coming out of hs?
yes, but i think a lot of that hype was when he pinned jesse vasquez at WNO. but vasquez turned out to be not great either.

he's also not bad either. all of his losses are close to solid NQ type guys. i bet he ends up being solid. wrestled murin really tough.

i think he's a r16/24 guy this year. fringe aa contender next year.

It's not just Okie State. Iowa has some plodders as well; recall that they slowed down PSU last month. In their defense, these guys are tough to score on and this style gives them the best chance to win. But it's not much fun to watch,
your team is noticeably more boring than past years too. it's an epidemic.

my theory is that this is the greco effect. defense has advanced so far that the risk/reward ratio for attacking is way off.

Wasn't knocking voinovich, its only his freshman year, I just thought I remember him being pretty highly touted. Hawks looked good from what I saw, Okie State not so much. Nice little scramble at 157 there!

Iowa 28 Oklahoma St 7.

Brands over Plott. Assad over Whitlake.

Fix won 11-3 over Teske. Gfeller beat Siebrecht in UTB.

That’s a pretty good Iowa team that wrestled today. Two national champs (Spencer and Real) and 5ish additional AAs.
I agree except for Real. I don’t think he wins it. Alirez beats him if they meet. Real has gotten really good on top but I think Alirez is better in neutral. Alirez has fallen apart in the post season in the past but this year he looks like a different guy. He’s the favorite in my eyes

Not the toughest schedule though. But others have him ranked #1.

Keep it close with Woods, be on top in 2nd with tough ride. You'll have a chance in 3rd. I think he is cutting pretty hard.

So in one match Angel goes from being hated in Carver to the best ref ever..
