please add to the the thread as you learn of surprising or interesting results

using Flo's ratings:

184: #15 Michael Macchiavello (NC St.) over #7 Zack Zavatsky (VT), 9-3

141: #4 Matt Kolodzik (Princeton) over UR William Koll (Cornell), 5-3

197: UR Benjamin Honis (Cornell) over #11 Brett Harner (Princeton), 7-6

141: #16 Luke Pletcher (Ohio St) over #10 Colton McCrystal (Nebraska), 4-1

184: #9 Myles Martin (Ohio St) over #3 Tim Dudley (Nebraska), 11-5

165: #11 Steiert (UNI) pins #6 Daniel Lewis of Missouri.

Northern Iowa has a big lead on Missouri - if this holds, this could shake up some National Duals matchups next week.

Sounds like TJ Dudley skipped wrestling Sammy Brooks .... More seed protection / ducking ? That's unfortunate - Brooks & Dudley put on some great shows last year.

Lizak was up 6-0 and dominating on top with 30 sec left in the second when Rodriguez reversed him to make it 6-2. He had something like 3 minutes of riding time racked up at that moment. I just don't get how you gas so bad when you have basically been riding on top the whole match.

Announcers mentioned he had been sick but still...he was giving up go behinds in the third like it was going out of style.

When it becomes a regular occurrence I generally assume weight management is poor.

I agree in general principle. With that said, it was never made public knowledge what happened to Andrew Alton. I just figured the topic was too painful to talk about publicly. Not clear if it was weight cutting, or what it was. I always thought it was psychological. It MIGHT be psychological with Lizak also. I don't recall him gassing like this for the first half of the season?

It's really hard to prevent takedowns when your nose is stuck to the mat in the 3rd period ...

Massa 9-7 over Jordan. Wisky 19-18 over Meatchicken -- difference was Medbery pin vs. Micic TF.

What was up with Gilman being hit for two stall calls in the third against Lambert? Also, a MUCH closer match this time between the two. I recall the posts regarding the comparative scores with Gilman vs Lambert compared to Nick vs Lambert, at the time.

And take a guess who didn't wrestle at 184 for ISU, whose presence in the lineup would've won the match.

Pokes sat Schafer today -- backup 197 White lost to Larson.

Did Iowa State cancel their dual with Minnesota next weekend?

Lambert must of studied the Lizak tape because he rode Gilman for large parts of that match. Couple times I thought he might even turn him.

I would put in Hall's tech over Brunson as a surprise result. Not so much that Hall wasn't expected to win, but that dominantly was quite eye opening for me.
