White can shut a match down. If this one was in Carver, I bet Alex could get a number of stalling points. i’d still pick Marinelli over him but it might be pretty close. I’d say Berger and Venz should win. The others are toss ups, IMO.

I'm with ya on the predictions. I dont think Young can beat Berger. (Watch for some fireworks in this match as Berger has a history with the Hawks). Might be a tough environment to wrestle at today. Not sure what kind of attendance The Cornfuskers will bring, but after losing the the Hawks in football for half a decade I'm sure they are a bit rabid

Spot on with White. He's good at holding position and freezing the match. Agree about Berger and Venz. Schultz is in good form right now and could surprise Warner. I think Redd is just a bit better on any night. It should be a good one. And Nebraska just stomped perennial top 10 Rutgers.

I wouldn't sleep on White. He was clearly struggling with something at the beginning of the season (weight cut?), but Joseph isn't the only guy he has taken to the wire. Last year he also split with Wick and Richie Lewis and lost a close 3-1 SV bout to Massa. I do think Marinelli will beat him in a close decision, though. I'm also picking Warner and Murin to win.

Murin has the superior gas tank which makes beating Red doable. My opinion is if Red had Murin's gas tank the match may not be very close at all.

• Red over Murin in a close match.
• Berger over Young. Score will be relatively close (say 4-6 points), but Berger will never really be threatened.
• Maranello over White. Another fairly close match point-wise, as White is tough to score on and pretty good at slowing things down. Comparisons using Gunther as a common opponent don't mean much, IMO.
• Venz over Wilcke (you really don't know the spelling the Iowa wrestlers?). I'll say Venz gets an early lead on holds on at the end, as Wilcke does his usual routine of not firing until the last 60 seconds of the match.
• Warner vs Shultz is pretty much a toss-up. I'll go with Shultz due to home mat, but that's a pure guess.

All Hawkeye and Nittany Lion animosity aside, for just a moment. ANY objective wrestling fan watching that match can see how much Cenzo was dominating Marinelli up to that point. I believe that is all Cenzo meant when he said he was responsible for the loss. He beat himself, Marinelli didn't beat him. If that is hard for Hawks fans to swallow, try some honey to go along with it, because it's the cold, hard truth.
