Also thank the Strittmatters' for teaching their guys how to wrestle. Thank PA youth wrestling parents for running their kids to hell and back each week. Thank the commonwealth for the anchoring folk style wrestling. Thank the admins at Iowa for not knowing any better.
Actually thank the state of PA, the best wrestling state in the USA. Even though we just found out about this new thing called wrestling in 2010
No mention of Coe College extending Larry Lee.
Should add Kemerer too. Many think it really started with Kemerer.

Pa saved iowa wrestling
Tom talks a lot about finally figuring out he needs to recruiting Pa. It's a smart move but I really don't think it's going to be as easy as he thinks.
There has definitely been a cascade of positive developments since 2017-18 when HR was mostly apoplectic citing our recruiting class, stating they would never catch up:
1) The Spencer Lee effect is real both in team points and coat-tails recruiting
2) Extraordinarily good transfers including Eireman next year
3) Success is directly tied to PA with the best "half" of the team coming from the best wrestling state
4) Timing - one can argue the point but I think it is pretty much a given this is a weak year due to the Olympics and several teams using it as punt year (Mich, Cornel, tOSU).
As an example some food for thought - the 2017/18 tOSU squad would manhandle this year's Iowa squad with 10 'ranked' guys

RS SR - Kemerer
RS JR - Young
JR - Lee, DeSanto
RS SO - Murin
RS FR - Teasdale (transfer)
HS 2019 -- none. As far as I can tell, they were not a finalist for any PA wrestlers. Definitely not for the top 4 (Starocci, Anderson, Vulakh, Ruth) -- including Vulakh's 2nd go-around.
HS 2020 -- none. Again does not appear to have been a finalist for any either. Unlikely to land any remaining PA wrestlers.
HS 2021 -- none yet. Joey Fischer showed interest in Iowa but chose Clarion (Ybarra and Schriever at his weight possibly a factor). I don't know if Kibe is interested, otherwise Iowa is unlikely to land any PA wrestlers.
He was in living in Missouri when he committed.
Though there's a case for him if he graduates from Waynesburg Central next year. Attended Waynesburg schools while Sammie was at WVU, then moved to Missouri when Sammie got fired, now moved back.
When Henson wins, he's from PA. When he loses, he's from MO.
How old are the Brands? They look pretty young still. They should have lifetime deals pretty much. Same with Sanderson.
After next years team graduates, they go back to hoping for the podium. They will be right back where they where after next year. Just wait for it.

Can you imagine all the teams out there that would be elated to be top 3? Nearly all of them. Why wouldn't a fan hope/wish for their team to be on top every year?

In all sports there is only 1 champ but that does not make all others failures. Having the championship or bust attitude is good for high level athletes during and in prep for competition... not so much for fans.
