Is MSU’s run defense strong because pass defense is weak?

I wonder about dubious stats like this. Teams which are successful passing don’t need to run. I’m thinking Trace has a field day on Saturday.

The answer is YES. I think their run D is slightly above average but their pass D is god awful. Thus teams just pass on them and call it a day.

I think thats a fair point, the other thing is they havn't played anyone that has a pulse at RB or offers both a decent passing and running game.
ASU is the best running team they faced so far and they are 52nd
after that its UT St. at 62
IU at 65
Central Michigan at 104
and NW at 129
We are...23rd

Well, between that and they haven't exactly played murderers row.
Neither has PSU except for OSU.

Althon Rankings:
54 App State
72 Pitt
121 Kent St
89 ILL
2 OSU

50 Utah St
46 AZ State
60 Indy
123 Central Mich
57 NW

This game should be interesting. MSU has a good run defense. Can Sanders run for 100 yards or will he get shut down like he did vs. OSU?
