I know it is being advertised that TrackWrestle is carrying NWCA DCS Duals, but it isn't clear whether it is all of them or just some. For instance, I see UNL @ VT advertised on TrackWrestle, but didn't see PSU @ Okie State...

Wonderful..... And the NWCA wonders why no one takes their "National Duals Tournament" seriously.....
Not the NWCA's fault here. OSU and NWCA tried to cut a deal to broadcast it on NBCSN but Flo sued OSU and before the hearing OSU caved. OSU obviously thought the DCS was outside the contemplation of the original deal with Flo, and Flo thought otherwise. And then Flo jacked up its subscription price by $10. Last year BTN had the rights and broadcast it free. I can't imagine OSU is going to want to reup with Flo.

Meanwhile Flo is ripping NBC for its lack of coverage of the World Cup. Glass houses and all.

I don't care how you slice it, it is pretty pathetic and would never happen if the tournament had the significance that its organizers, and biggest promoters (i.e., a small group of coahces at NWCA who want to use it to mess with an already PROVEN successful national tournament), want to claim it does.....

Actually, I still put this on the NWCA. Very poor planning on their part not to have addressed this well ahead of time and negotiated a deal with Flo. The proponents of NWCA and the National Duals keep saying how good the NWCA is at marketing wrestling and yet they keep coming up short.

Regardless of what the NWCA has or hasn't done with respect to marketing, in this particular instance they'd have no reason to think Flo had any rights and would thus have no reason to think they had to negotiate with them. OSU is definitely at fault for signing the contract they did, but NWCA would have no access to that contract. OSU obviously approached the NWCA, I'll guess in good faith, that they had rights to licence and NWCA would've had a good faith belief that they had rights to sublicense.

Sorry, tikk, but I still disagree. They had access to the OK State agreement with Flo by asking OK State about televising the dual at OK State. Claiming ignorance if they made no effort to find out about any agreement is not a valid excuse, IMHO. In fact, it points to the incompetence of NWCA that they didn't know about the agreement between OK State and Flo.

Oh yeah. Well try this slice on for size. If the match was at PSU (which it should be because we're favored) then I bet you dollars to donuts it will be televised for free. MAkes you wonder who is ranking these teams. Three guys in a closet. Think about it.

The dual being at OK State has nothing to do with rankings. The format was decided on 2 years ago and the format this season has ALL of the BIG teams participating on the road, just like last year it had AL

Of course they knew about the agreement but they'd still have no way of knowing whether it applied to the Dual Series. OSU clearly thought it didn't at the time, and that's their fault. NWCA wasn't party to the agreement and relied on OSU's representation. Further, I'm not clear on what sort of deal you're envisioning was possible between Flo and the NWCA, even if NWCA knew the actual language of the deal and OSU's weak legal argument. What can NWCA give Flo that's better than the unchecked ability to gouge new subscribers?

Especially as compared to the NCAA.... Last year's National Tournament at Madison Square Garden was a great "showcase" for College Wrestling.

I was assuming (pretty bad I guess since that it what I am accusing the NWCA of) that some TV network/channel would be willing to pay Flo for the rights to televise the dual live. How much they would have been willing to pay I have no idea.

I am curious as to who is getting this inflated price. I live in Iowa and this is what my price is shown as.

I turned on a New York VPN and still had $20 monthly. Something is up. Why are some of you being charged $30 ?

I guess it's possible that someone would pay Flo for the rights to simulcast it but Flo has never done anything like that. The only potential partners I can imagine are competitors. And, let's say it was NBC--they would only do a deal if they could put their own announcers on. Flo could have sold the rights entirely to an NBC-type entity but wht would Flo do that? They're trying to grow.

That said, their hardline stance with respect to the contract may be shortsighted because OSU is likely taking the view that they got screwed.

Yeah, I've only seen reports from people complaining but there were enough of them and from legit people that I felt safe asserting that it was true. Maybe they felt the optics were bad and retracted the hike.

I paid 30 and I live in Pa. I didn't see the 20 or 12.95 a month. I really want to watch this match so I don't mind. I was able to watch all of Mark Hall tournament matches earlier this year and watched the Iowa match last night. I'm not happy about paying the $30 but it's better then what a joke trying to watch OSU VS CORNELL on track wrestling for free. I gave up because it's not working.

Could the price of Flo depend on where you live? Perhaps they increased it to $30 in PA as they knew lots of PSU fans would pay.

Feed was a total cluster from start to finish. Track should be embarrassed streaming anything of that quality!

I live in MI, got the $30/mo - I clicked on a Flo ad on Google

Word I got from Cornell was the ethernet cable their IT department supplied was bad, discovered way too late to fix after they tried to troubleshoot everything else.

This isn't excusing anything, but that's what I was told.
