OC/DC goes to Shoop. No one seems to mention that PSU was injured deeply and widely on defense. It showed at the end of the season and in the bowl game. But Shoop and his assistants did a good job keeping the together. The may be a toss up next season though....I certainly hope so.
Arguably, Josh Gattis has the most talent to work with on this football team. Josh is also responsible for recruiting some of that talent. However, watching these young talented wide receivers grow this season and watching Geno get back into the act is a credit to Mr Gattis and his coaching and teaching methods.
All aspects of receiver technique were on display in this bowl game, including protecting the ball, using the body to create separation when there was none... great moments of separation due to running crisp routes.... fabulous foot work and blocking for one another. Sure, there were times when mistakes were made and routes could have been modified to help the QB. But all in all this group is ready to take the step to prime time. Josh gets my tip of the hat for assistant coach.
I predict next season I will give my 2016 assistant coach tip of the hat award to Herb Hand. At least, I hope so.
