Mark Hall on deck next weekend.

Can anyone give a little preview on the field he will face ?

Can Wreck Hall bend Daton Fix's ear a bit for PSU?

I could not find an entry list. Looking at the regional junior championships, the Asian junior champ at 74kg was Bazrighaleh (IRI). That is who Mark Hall beat 8-5 at Beat the Streets back in May. Runner-up at Asian Juniors was Pritam (IND) who was 3rd at Cadet Worlds in 2014 at the weight that Manville won. Euro Junior champ was Suleimanov (AZE) who was 2nd at Euro U23 in March. Euro junior runner-up was Sidakov (RUS) who appears to have the best resume of the wrestlers I mentioned. Sidakov has recent senior level success at 70kg in winning the Ivan Yarygin GP, finishing 5th at senior Euro Championship, and winning Russian Nationals (albeit a depleted field in a non-Olympic weight and after the Dagestan wrestlers walked out). Keep in mind, no guarantee any of the wrestlers mentioned above are the rep at Junior Worlds.

Appears from that the mens FS will go on that Saturday (9/3) and Sunday (9/4). Start times are 10am France time, and there's a six-hour difference to EST here, meaning matches start at 4am eastern, with finals starting around noon eastern.

50kg - Spencer Lee (SAT)
55kg - Daton Fix (SUN)
60kg - Seth Gross (SAT)
66kg - Alec Pantaleo (SUN)
74kg - Mark Hall (SAT)
84kg - Zahid Valencia (SUN)
96kg - Kollin Moore (SAT)
120kg - Jordan Wood (SUN)

That is some great research. You should work at WaPo.

4 medals- Hall, Lee, Valencia, Pantaleo

are you saying those are the only medals at all?

I could see 3 of the 4 taking gold and at least another 1 or 2 others you did not name in medal round ie Fix and Wood.

I think this might be a great junior showing and further proof the next Olympic cycle for Merica is going to be highly competitive and exciting to watch.

I love this team, and 6-7 medals would be amazing, but I think Fix performs similar to Hall and Valencia last year as a first year junior. Wouldn't be all that surprised if he medaled though. Im not as high on Wood as others are. Hope I'm wrong

I think 4 medals would be good.

Last year's junior World Champ at 55kg was Amiraslanov (AZE). He finished top 3 in a few senior level events since. He is very good, but he did not win Euro Jrs at 55kg in June. He finished 3rd while a Russian and a Georgian finished 1st and 2nd, respectively. 55kg will to tough.

I know a guy going over with Team USA... I should've swapped any Iowa stuff he had with him for my PSU gear before he left, today. Dropped the ball, there.

Paging Spyker ... 1 uncommitted wrestler on that roster, zero coaches from Stillwater

Hancock with the bronze and a 3-0 win over japan. he lost to GRE who then took silver.

Taylor lamount coming up now.

d@mn missed the LaMont match,....but he won 5-3 over UKR to get the bronze.

so 2 medals in greco so far at 96 and 60kg

Not a good day today in GR. all failed to medal.

ladies up tomorrow and Friday for those keeping score.

Don't get to carried away with no coaches, Daton's Dad will be with him (OSU guy and Johns friend) you can carry on now.
Well that settles that. Knowing John is Daton's dad's friend, John almost certainly will want what is best for Daton. Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling it is.

Ladies are making a statement this morning.

Miracle and porter going for bronze at noon est.

Kayla Miracle wins her second Junior World bronze medal with a 2-0 win!

Alexis Porter gets another bronze medal for the United States w 10-0 TF!

Nice job ladies!

Mark Hall will wrestle Yajyuro Yamasaki (JPN) in his first match. Yamasaki took bronze at 2014 Cadet World Championships in the same weight that Mark Hall won and he did not place at 2015 Junior Worlds at same weight as Mark. Not sure if they met up in either tournament. Winner get the winner of KAZ v. UKR, neither of which have any results in the UWW database. If he wins, Kucukyildirim (TUR), who was 5th at 2014 Cadet Worlds, or Gaphrindashvili (GEO) (no results in database) most likely QF opponents. If he makes semis, Georgiev (BUL), who was 5th at 2014 Cadet Worlds, or Suleymanov (AZE), who did not place at 2015 Junior Worlds at same weight as Mark, seem most likely opponents. The RUS and IRI are on opposite side of bracket as Mark.

Seth Gross got a tough draw with previous Cadet World Champ Kozan (TUR) in his first match. Winner of that match likely gets 2015 Junior World Champ Amiraslanov. (AZE).

Spencer Lee has Cetin (TUR), 2016 Cadet Euro silver, in first round. Lee could meet winner of Goodarzi (IRI) or Khan (RUS) in semis. Lee beat Goodarzi in the Junior final last year.

prediction: 2 golds and Seth gets pulled back in and wins 1 match, crossing fingers for 2.

Pretty sure Hall pinned him in the last :30 last year

EDIT: I was off a row, but here was the result
Qualification: Mark HALL (USA) df. Yayuro YAMASAKI (JPN), 6-2

Hall also beat him in the Cadet World semifinals.
