Junior WTT

Gfeller fades again. Bad tank. Big balls on Verkleeren. He wins 8-6 by getting a step-out, a pair of takedowns, and a late turn
So I take it Gfeller did not pound his chest and say “we comin’” after that display?

He got a little cocky after catching Lee this year at the SS

So if Cassioppi gets worked by Gable (which he probably will), it's going to alter how you view Cass vs Nevills? Wouldn't most expect Nevills to also get worked over by Gable? I guess I don't see the logic there.
Same here.

I will say it again. Nick allows pretty easy access to his legs. He doesn't yet look any stronger. He needs 5 more lbs of muscle for next year. Gets caught underneath just short of finishing on to many of his shots too. The Mckenna dual was a perfect example. Nick out worked, out shot McKenna, but was over powered in a few critical moments in that match.
Agree with all points, but IMO allowing easy access to legs (almost like he's just careless) was a bigger issue for Lee than lack of strength.

My logic is that I think they are both about the same and its pretty hard to argue one of over the other. That said I would expect them both to get worked over by Gable.

I have been impressed with Cassiopi lately, thus I said fair about Lemon Pies statement. If maybe he wrestles Gable and impresses even in a loss - like Kirkliviet - then I'm seeing some confirmation of what LemonPie is putting down. Without it its basically two fan bases getting behind each of their own guys who are relatively close as prospects and Lemon being Lemon.

Thats MY logic at least .

Maybe the statement was a little hyperbolic, but it's not like Turk has done anything of significance to the point where we get worked up over it. Turk beat 3 guys that were worse than Murin at NCAAs. I guess we'll see. Either way it's a low-AA type with minimal bonus.
Agreed. Maybe low AA. Likely R16-R12 type with about 10 other guys, of whom a couple will get on the podium.

Too bad Seth and Gable never met. There were a few close calls (skin inspection DQ) but their careers were like ships passing in the night.

Gable is very strong, fast, and uniquely athletic for his size. His rare big man athleticism is what really separates him from the pack.

That said Seth and Cassi are really really good. I don't think Gable dominates either in folkstyle. A lot of 6-3 type matches where Gable is control throughout, but I don't see it like Snyder vs Nick N, where (aside from Nick's awesome dual last Nov) Snyder could almost take him down at will and rack up the points.

Ok update: ...... Gable 12-2 over Cassi. So much for 6-3, Gable is a huge stud and definitely a national contender right out of the gate next year as a true freshman.

FYI - for last year's WNO, there was no Hwy match. Seth and Gable had been contacted about wrestling each other. Seth said yes, but Gable said no. So we didn't get to see a very highly anticipated match up.

I wouldn't make much of an issue about Steveson declining the invite. It could have been for any number of legit reasons such as a prior commitment that was at the same time. We will definitely get to see them go at it in college several times. Since Seth is going to have all next year to prepare, I think the gap between them might close significantly. Also, Seth is bigger than Nick and he might still have a little growing to do. You guys saw how Steveson fared against Coon. I could see Seth eventually getting close to Coon's size.

Is flo showing the Jr finals today at 2 PM our time? I can't see it listed as available on flo. I know yesterday's matches were shown.

Berge with a 7-4 win in the first best of 3.

O'Connor had him dead to rights for a TD, but scrambling defense got Berge the TD, instead.

O'Connor adjusts very well for the second match with Berge, and beats him 10-0 on 4 TD and 2 PO, I think. Completely different match.

Berge looked great! His defense, short offense, and re-attacks are so good. I definitely see him as an AA next year at 149. I hear some asking if he can make it but I’ve heard that for next year at least he can and will be at 149.
Brooks is just incredible. Continues to improve every time he takes the mat. I love Labriola and seeing Brooks put it to him 3 matches in a row including Vegas is a testament to Aaron’s talent. After a year at the OTC this kid has the potential for multiple titles (maybe even 4)!!

Alirez did have a great tournament as well. I’ve known his father and family since high school. His dad was a stud in hs and then fought mma for a number of years. Super tight family and pretty large family and they all live in the Greeley area which is where University of Nothern Colorado is located. I don’t see him changing his commitment or transferring. Too many ties and too tight of a family. He has improved so much over the last 2 years. His leg attacks, especially that swing single are deadly. Colorado wrestling keeps improving and are putting out some good kids recently. Heinselman, yapoujian (Cornell bound), Theorius Robison, Colton Schultz all either jrs or seniors in hs.

Berge at 149 in 2018-2019 and then 157 after Nolf leaves. Teske is 125 in 2018-19 and Teasdale and RBY wrestle off for 133 with the loser RS and then one of them going to 141 in 2019/20 pushing Lee to 149. Verklereen could be the odd man.

What about Busiello?

Going to be a damn good jr team again this year. I see gold potential for Brooks, Warner, Kerkvliet, and Steveson. Medal contention for Gomez, Berge, and Lewis. I’m sure DePrez can medal as well , I’ve just not seen him wrestle much freestyle. I’m not sure about Demas. Won a tough weight and has big move potential for sure. Courtney I think can definitely place but I didn’t include him because Fix can still get a wrestle off if he doesn’t make the senior team I believe. Adding Daton to this team would make the US squad tough to beat.

Yeah. Seth has the classic Nevills slow feet.

Nice problem to have. Starts at 125 and moves up later on. He’ll get his chance but probably ends as a 141.
I could be mistaken, but I don't believe Busiello ever sees 125 in college.

Teasdale at 125 this season, I would think. Has Cael indicated otherwise?

I haven't heard anything from Cael, but there has been a lot of speculation that 126 was a tough pull for Teasdale and making 125 next year may not be possible. Time will tell.

Well, we have three, very good, very talented, very young guys, for two weights. That's really all we know at this point. Well, we know Roman isn't going at 125, so there's that.
