according to Philly.com. They are gathering the parties for an announcement, I assume tonight.

So now even the Commonwealth Attorney General, (elected what a year or so AFTER the CSS charges were filed), has been accused, tried, and convicted of perjury charges.........and we still don't even have so much as a trial date for the CSS perjury trials yet. Going on 5 years now.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm sure the Pennliars are celebrating as well as our own OG BOT, Freeh and the rest of the people that hate PSU

Kane practically FORCED the jury to convict her
I'm sure the appeal paperwork is already copied and collated......and she will have multiple legitimate courses of action......but good Lord, this gal pisses her own bed more often than a 4 year old who just chugged a liter of Mountan Dew

I certainly feel for the God-awful situation she found herself in.........but she must be dumb as a bag of hair

Problem is, when SHE pisses the bed, we all wake up in wet sheets
Gansler? Laugh or Cry?
Castor? Laugh or Cry?

Put faith in a Lawyer/Politician?
Bend over and brace yourself

I didn't follow the proceedings closely but that seems to be the overwhelming opinion. Hopefully she'll find a open minded appeals court and get a shot at another approach

I did not follow her trial closely and I make no judgment as to her guilt or innocence, but when I heard the defense called no witnesses, I thought the strategy was either brilliance or folly. The verdict tells me it was the latter.

Attorney on not calling any witnesses: "I'll be the first person to say we were wrong," but says it's a "time-worn" strategy

I could better understand the strategy if this was some street variety crime, like auto theft or drug dealing, but for the PA Attorney General to not call a single witness of any kind was shocking to me.

I see this as yet more fallout from the AG's office under Tom Corbett's tenure FAILING to properly investigate Second Mile.

If Tom Corbett had just DONE HIS JOB, investigated, charged & tried Sandusky on already available, credible victim testimony & LEFT PENN STATE < Spanier > OUT OF IT - we'd be somewhere else this evening.

I blame Tom Corbett - and I sent an email to DA Steele expressing my disgust at the occupants in that office over the years and the damage they've done to so many in the commonwealth.

I feel for her. She's not going to hold up well in prison. Her best bet is to appeal this thing forever and hope to get a sympathetic judge

I disagree. I think she gets at least 6 months.

Hell, Jane Orie got 10 years because her office workers licked stamps to put on re-election materials. That was another political crucifixion just like this one.

No doubt she messed with the old boys club, but she isn't to blame. Honestly she was an idiot too.

But Kane's max is 7 years. I am no criminal attorney but I'm guessing 14 months.

Orie got 2 1/2 to 10 yrs. She was released after 2 1/2. I googled it cause I wanted to learn about the stamp licking rap. Not mentioned in the Wiki bio of her. Her two sisters are crooks too -- Janine and Judge Joan Orie Melvin. Oh well.

Her sentence was 2 1/2 - 10 years, and she was released after serving the minimum of 2 1/2 years.

As for her employees simply licking re-election materials, I think you're understating things a bit. She was convicted of 14 counts of forgery, conflict of interest and theft of services.

I'd also point out that her initial trial was declared a mistrial when it was discovered that the defense had submitted forged/doctored evidence.

The Orie-Zappala family feud was well-known. Whatever was produced/said/declared, this was one family going after another. When the DA of Allegheny County is the scion of said family, the result is assured.

Let there be no doubt, the Orie's are all nuts, but the crux of the case was Jane Orie's office workers helping her out on her re-election campaign. The forged documents were, uh, unfortunate for her.

I never once voted for any of the Orie's, but surely nobody believes that what she did is any different than what most elected officials do. And this is the same defense used for Kane and the grand jury leaks: everybody does it.

So what do we know about Castor? Is he likely to drop the charges against C/S/S and go after the Old Boy cabal? Or is he another political guy who is trying to get ahead by not taking on the corruption?
