The PSU kicking game is real good right now. Pinegar nailed a 47 yarder into the wind. Stout's kick-offs were good as usual. Lastly, the control that Gillikin gets on those balls that he just drops inside the ten is really impressive. There was the poor tackling sequence on the high short kick-off when the IU up man went Jim Brown on PSU for 30 yards to almost the 40. Poor tackling was on display yesterday.

Kicking game with have to be great next week to keep PSU in the game.

totally agree, was very impressed with Pinegar’s kick yesterday. If that was truly into the wind as stated on TV, would have been good from 55
I don't think I've ever seen him kick one that true. Hope it's a sign of things to come.

Yep......Pinegar has been very solid, Stout on kickoffs is very solid, and the punting game has been good enough.

Hamler is a homerun hitter on returns, so a guy like that is always going to try to break one. But I always hold my breath when he brings one out of the end zone.

All in all, very solid special teams this year.

We should be taking the ball on the 25 almost every time, good place to start, especially against Ohio State this week. The only exceptions would be end of half, end of game situations where there is little tme or timeouts left, or the staff has seen something on film we can exploit.

Agreed. We don't seem to get passed the 25 when we return KOs, but we celebrate putting the other team there with our touchbacks. Strange. With Hamler seemingly so hesitant on KO returns this year, and probably not returning them next week even if he plays, we should definitely take the touchbacks UNLESS OSU is struggling on kick coverage the way they were Barkley's last year.
