be a 15 yard penalty this year, According to Head of BIG Ten Officials Bill Corollo. Players cannot run up to the line of scrimmage and jump to to block a kick-what a joke (leaping). The Big Ten dose not like OSU losing like that i guess.

I understand not being able to use a lineman to get extra height, but this is just plain stupid.

What is the official wording of the rule?

So a running start may become a violation but how many steps would be allowed? One? Two? None? Or will the rule state any player beyond a certain distance from the line of scrimmage isn't permitted to jump?

Here is a decent article addressing the rule change and includes discussion of Marcus Allen's "leap" vs O$U.

based on this, his play would still be legal as he didn't jump until he was on the other side of the LOS. So if you are rushing a K, and there is a crack/hole open, take it and you can jump up at that point. I think they are trying to stop the running and jumping over the center kind of play. Think PSU vs Pitt circa 1975 Greg Ducott ?(sp) jumped over the C and blocked an XP/FG, cant remember, don't feel like looking it up.

So would this now be a 15 yard penalty?

I guess it would be up to the BIG TEN refs to call it they way the see it, and if you don't think they are not going to call it on PSU in a tight game- you would be wrong.
