Football Latest on QB Drew Allar's injury status for Saturday's game

No, he hasn't.

He's attempted 44 passes in his career. Few against a quality team.
DA has attempted 613.

That isn't to say he won't be successful. A lot depends on how close to 100% DA is. We don't know and probably never will know. I trust the coaches to make that call. But IMHO experience, in big games, matters.
Every game is a big game today in football. Pribula played well in his last big game.

See you back here at 4pm tomorrow after Pribula plays a great game against Ohio State.

Yup, just have to hope that any mistakes from Beau result in incomplete passes or recovering our own fumble like on the one mesh screwup last week.

I figured Allar would play and it looks like he probably will. Hopefully he gained some confidence in that knee this week and realizes that's it's stable enough not to baby it. I'd still prefer Beau over an injured Drew but I'll be hopeful with either of them.
A PSU writer was on The Fan Pittsburgh today to talk about this game and he said that Allar actually was participating in ball maintenance drills on Wednesday during which he was diving on the ground; he fully expects him to play. He did say that he doesn't expect DDS to play.

I never said he wouldn't be successful. Don't put words in my mouth. But DA has been a starter for 1.5 years. Beau has never been a starter. That is significant.

This whole "every game is a big game" is nonsense
Not all games have the same level of importance. Playing Wisconsin's defense is not the same as playing Ohio State's defense
Isn't Allar starting tomorrow?
The weird love affair with Beau is odd

You're rooting for Ohio State anyway. That's why you keep looking for ways to lose.

It's easy to feel confident when you're playing lesser opponents. When you come across an opponent that has bigger, stronger, and faster players and it's a whole new game.

Allar certainly experienced that. He's had good success until OSU & UM showed up. Suddenly he felt pressure like never before. He had to make quicker decisions and it didn't worked out well last year. Hopefully he's grown and is much more confident this year but is he healthy?

Pribula had a good experience last week but it wasn't vs OSU level talent. I recall he got away with completing a pass into a tight window. An OSU DB might have intercepted that pass. He fumbled a snap and got back on the ball. An OSU defender might have recovered that fumble. It will be interesting to see if Pribula can get it done tomorrow. I'm sure he's been told not to turn the ball over.

Not that I pay p$ychic energies to such gahbage or have gimpsider info but the phact the line has even limped out to Ahia State by 3 and not blumpied up to 7, een 7 and haif, would suggest to me baby phace Alway will be good to go. I perdict Lions prevail either way to @LandoCommando's Boomerwilderment...

Ummm--if Allar's playing I see that as reasonable--which it sounds like he is
This line isn't anything I'd bet on though
Oregon and Duke are my main bets this weekend. Not a great week to gamble--lines are rough

It will be tough for DDS to play. Groin is something that you just keep retweeking unless it is fully healed. It is truly nagging and impossible to make quick moves with this injury. Hope he's ready but doubt it. Better to get him better.

Can't they shoot up the groin with steroids and get him out there?

I slipped/fell on ice a few years back and pulled one. It was awful for probably 10 days and could still feel it at times three months out. Nobody has ever mistaken me for a world class athlete, but my experience tells me groin pulls do not have a quick recovery period. He will be doing great if he only misses a couple games. Last thing he wants to do is come back too early and pull it again.

I like

Neb -7, UCLA is not a good team especially when they come out east.
Indiana -7.5, starting QB is back and their coach has them playing tough, fundamentally sound football
TAMU -3, South Carolina has a tough D and it's at home, but since TAMU went with new QB, they've been on fire.

I like the Nebraska bet as well--worry about a letdown after they played well but lost to Ohio State so didn't commit to it
Indiana was another bet I made

I was also thinking Oregon, especially now with the Will Johnson injured, but 14.5 seems like a little much with it being at the Big House and Oregon coming east.

Navy -11 at Rice. Books overreacted to Navy's blowout loss to ND, where they kept fumbling the ball. Rice stinks.

We'll see if I'm right or wrong about the travel. I don't think it impacts good teams the same way it does UCLA Cal or even USC.
