Let's not judge Urban until all the facts are in. Remember Joe

By not coming out and saying they were wrong is the exact definition of sticking to their guns. By making us prove our worthiness before coming off sanctions is sticking to their guns. By not giving us back the money is sticking to their guns.

You're so bitter you're blinded by this whole thing. See every event since our event--they learned their lesson. Our BOT is the problem

Yes. The governor of Ohio has lied to the people of Ohio. The president (whichever one you like) lies to the people of the United States. A football coach lying at a press conference is small potatos.

Apparently Urban Meyer is the one person on Earth that has to be truthful at all times

@78SweetRevenge Not sure what you don't get about the current environment. Lying about this is akin to protecting and enabling the abuser. That's where the pressure and outrage is coming from, besides those that just want to see a rival coach fired.

In the end it's looking like OSU is going to protect him and keep him.

I think it’s a stretch to say lying about what he knew after he’d already fired the guy is protecting and enabling him. If Smith was still on the staff yes.

So, in your mind, Urban not being truthful to the media is somehow enabling. Wow--sounds like those that attacked JoePa.

The current environment part just makes me laugh to be honest.

#metoo will not allow it. Right now they're like a nuclear bomb. Urban is toast . I'm kinda hoping they just suspend him for a couple games so OSU as a university bears the entire brunt of the #metoo movement

lmao "he doesn't get to lie to me"....who are you or any of us
I KNOW who I am. I'm the guy who is being asked to suspend judgment about Urban Meyer. A guy who thinks he lied through his teeth, and is not inclined to believe UM.

Not up to anyone but me how much slack I cut him. He better show pretty quick he wasn't lying, or he gets no benefit of any doubt from me. To treat UM "fairly" is precisely what is being asked of me. Prove you did not lie, or whatever way I treat you is all the fair you get.

He owes me nothing. And that is what I owe him.

You didn’t owe him anything last week or last year either. He’s a public figure you (I assume) don’t have a personal relationship with.
So why are we being told to treat him a certain way by the OP? Why are we being cautioned to wait until all the evidence is in?

I dont owe this guy anything if he lied. He knows every detail of that. Speak up or F off.

I don’t agree with the OP. The OP also isn’t Urban, it’s not like he made a personal request to Demlion.

Again--everyone lies--you clearly hate everyone in the world with this approach
Or is it just your bias against Meyer and Ohio State?

If he lied then he didn't take action when he found out. The big difference is a current coach vs previous staff member. What was Joe's responsibility to Sandusky at that point (01). Nothing. You want to go back to 98 then he's covered by the police saying nothing was there.

Urban not firing him when it happened allowed Zach to continue to laud his job status over Courtney as she also required him to be employed for money. Certainly sounds like enabling. Coutrney not precessing charges has been covered ad nauseam already. Most victims of abuse don't press charges.

Like I said, unless that 90 year old lady is Matlock, he's fine. We'll see him 9/29.

This was not a confidential situation....as I stated in an earlier post, once Urban’s wife told the victim she was going to tell Urban and the victim agreed, the confidentiality argument goes out the window.

Plus, this is the wife of one of her husband's employees. This is not just idle office gossip or even official office business that one spouse needs to or should keep private from the other spouse. This is potentially damaging information about one one of the spouse's employees that the other spouse is hearing. Mrs. Myer certainly should be aware enough to know that it wouldn't be good for her husband if he's seen enabling a serial spousal abuser.

You certainly lie, but that is not everyone. At big ten media days, when asked about 2015, he said the first he had heard of it was "last night." Now that is either true, or not true. The evidence is pretty strong that it was a lie. In such a setting, I cannot suspend judgment. He knows if he lied. Tell us.

If he doesn't, then ok. Stop telling me I need to wait for more facts. He has those facts. Give them up. Or I will make my own judgment. You say he does not care. Ok, then why are you telling me to wait?

He just admitted he lied. Probably did so at OSU behest as they will provide plausable deniability back up.

Yeah, I'm sure Courtney was devastated that he kept his job and she kept getting money from him.

Every single person alive has lied at some point in their lives. Pretending otherwise is just naïve.
Who cares if it is true or not true? What obligation does he have to answer that questions truthfully in that setting.
You're reaching judgment the same way people did against Paterno--you're a hypocrite plain and simple which is worse than a liar IMO

Every single person is not expecting that I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on the VERY THING THEY LIED ABOUT.

And, there's a difference between lies. Lies about major policy violations are a little more serious than lies about the number of cookies you had.

a lie is a lie
major policy violations...smh
if the actual part about abuse was so horrific the overreaction of this board because of what happened to us would be hysterical...it actually still kind of is
I don't believe for a second anyone actually cares about what Urban said or if we were talking about Franklin here they would want him dismissed...I should say anyone....95% of the people talking

If it comes out next week he told Gene and didn’t violate the policy, what will your opinion of his lies be then?

If Franklin violated title ix and lied about it, I would be very disappointed. I dont know if I would want him fired, but I have not called for UM to be fired, either.

let's hope we never find out but I think the overall posts on this board would be very different JMO

He told gene in 2015 about stuff he did not know until Monday a week ago?

Guess it depends who brings it out. If it's UM, I'll need more. He will have confessed to lying, after all.

Did he not say that if he had known in 15, he would have fired Smith then? Ok...
You are writing this script. Who should I believe?

You will agree that he did NOT fire Smith in 2015, right?

LOL at "confessed to lying" so ridiculous

She told Urban’s wife to tell him. That’s different.

Assuming she's a reliable witness. And we're getting into a lot of "she said"--"he said" stuff, too, from what I'm hearing. I simply do not know what the facts are. I see nothing wrong with letting this play out and find out what really happened. I haven't seen the gift of omniscience being granted to anyone here lately. As I like to say when pressed for an answer in a situation where I don't fully know what is going on: "I don't know means I don't know."

I’m already losing track of this, but wasn’t that in a text between Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Meyer?

I didn't say it was ok I just gave a reason. That being said, it's not illegal to lie to the media. He said he would have fired him if he would have known because it was the pc thing to say. If he'd refused to answer people would now be making a big deal about the refusal. If everyone who lied lost their jobs literally the entire country would be unemployed.

Another reason non nefarious reason. He was poorly prepared for the press conference and he ****ed up and said the first thing that popped into his head. Happens all the time.

We all know he lied last week, no one is saying he didnt.

He knew about smith in 2015 and he lied to the press about it. We all know that. What we don't know is if he lied to Gene in 2015. I really dont care if he did or didn't, Smith should have been fired and now Urban (and Gene if he approved keeping smith) should be gone too.

So, he did not apologize for lying, but he lied. Ok, well half a loaf is better than nothing.

So, Urban Meyer, who lied at Big Ten media days, changed his story today. I suspect he came to understand that the lies were untenable, because they might come to stop him from avoiding trouble for other duties his lies suggest he may have violated.

He was not "prepared." Lol! He just fired those lies up right on the spot! Wow!

Urban Liar.
