#13 preseason but John Buccigross the ESPN cawlidge hockey guy says B10 and Natty are possibilities.

Notre Dame is losing 2-0 to Air Force late in the first period.
So ... still ahead 2-0 halfway through the second period but PSU play has been underwhelming and SH is out working on a lot of scrambles. We are actually being out shot 18-11 for the game and Peyton Jones has had to make several good to great saves including multiple hot biscuit flurries in front of the crease. Still waiting for our D men to knock someone on their arse when they park in there.
And Sacred Heart cashes in the power play on a back hand to cut it to 2-1. getting a little uncomfortable, not a lot of juice on the ice or in the arena right now. Not what I expected tonight. 4:30 left in the second period.
Cole Hults lifts a soft wrister over the goalies shoulder on a power play for his second of the night and for the 3-1 lead to restore order. Under 3 to go in the second period.
Shots on goal 24-18 SH. At one point was 21-13. PJ is the difference. Can’t remember when a team outshot us this badly.
COLE HULTS with the hat trick on the two man advantage. 4-1 PSU with 18 minutes left to go.
He also hit the post in the 2nd period. What a night for Hults.
Nate Sucese off the great pass from Brandon Biro for another power play goal. 5-1 now with 15 minutes left.
And Sacred Heart comes right back down the ice and cuts it to 5-2 twelve seconds later.

shots on net..... that is the stat that matters..... there are often shots on goal that are guaranteed not to see the net,,,,,,,
Sam Sternschein with the back hander off the rebound to make it 7-2 with 3 and a half left.
So amusing side routine after Sacred Heart replaced the goalie (3 goals ago). Every time there was a stoppage in play and the new goalie lifts his mask for a drink the student section booed in horror only to be followed by the rousing standing ovation when he put the mask back on. Hilarious.

Freshman Conner Maceachran gets his first career goal with under a minute to close it out at 8-2. Need to play with that kind of fire every period.
Peyton Jones was outstanding in the first two periods last night. Gadowsky from the presser:
“It’s not often in an 8-2 game that you feel that your goaltender saved you, but I really felt that way,” Gadowsky said.
“If it wasn’t for Peyton Jones, I think we would be learning a much different lesson right now,” he continued.
Sacred Heart had a lot of point blank scoring opportunities in the first two periods. Third period - not so much. We sit at the end where PSU defends their net in the 1st and 3rd and other than the goal, on another defensive lapse, there wasn't much happening there last night in the 3rd period. Jones was pretty much just watching the play at the other end. He also made a couple of - one in particular - sharp passes last night.

Sacred Heart with quick back-to-back goals, but PSU stops the bleeding with a goal of their own. 5-2 with 7 left and PSU on the PP.
PSU holds on for the 5-4 win to start the season 2-0. The coaches are sure to spend a bit of time on the tape of the 3rd period!!!
Wow. That was exciting. PSU had a serious breakdown on the fourth Sacred Heart goal. A three on none all alone on the goalie? I've seen two on none breakaways but never a three on none. A win is a win is a win.
