Wrestling LIVE THREAD: Penn State vs. Iowa

BearClaw got rode entire 3rd period. No hand control. Agree with others that he shouldn’t have taken bottom. Only looked for hand control after he was standing.

Young literally never got out from behind the hips. Just awful. That was as bad as I’ve ever seen

Angel Rivera is so f'ing awful - how on earth is that not a complete stall-ride by Young? At one point, he did absolutely nothing but literally drive Barraclough off the mat after he stood - literally put his shoulder into the small of Barraclough's back and ran him off the mat, no stall call despite the rulebook literally stating that a stall is to be called when a top wrestler does this.

The Claw did nothing to deserve a win. But running out with no stall signaled a bathroom break for me.

Young wwasn’t gonna get called for top stalling at Carver no matter what. Barraclough should have gone neutral. But I’m a layman. Him going bottom was probably to see what he will have against Young come March. Because?

Well…because Cael can coach.
Except Barraclough even qualifying is far from a given. But, I do get your point.

I don't understand the lack of any semblance of a move on mat returns. I learned a gramby roll and a switch in 5th grade. For crying out loud.

frankly, he's lucky that those stalemates take so long because it creates the illusion that he's doing more than he is. if desanto would shoot, then back right out, then shoot again, he might have gotten that extra point.

and that's my larger point. rby is on a different level, but he's creating a path to victory for desanto if he gets an aggressive official. he got outshot like 15-1 in that match. doesn't need to be that way.
A: RBY won
B: RBY showed nothing
C: RBY just renewed his annual lease in Desanto’s head

50 years from now Hawkeyes will be talking about the time Kaleb Young beat an unranked Bearclaw 2-0 as the greatest match they ever saw.

Also, Bearclaw could beat that guy if he just let it fly. Young has nothing.

No automatic unsportsmanlike for touching a ref like that when arguing?

He wasn't arguing. He was trying to point out that RBY was grabbing his toes illegally (I'm not agreeing or disagreeing). He needs to do so more calmly. I think the referee, knowing Desanto, what he was saying and that he backed off after telling him to do so, contributed to nothing more.
