Lock Haven takes down Rutgers

It was a great atmosphere.

Perennial top 5 power Rutgers falls to Eagles of Lock Haven. After the match somebody referred to Abro (or whatever his name is) was heard shouting from a cruiseliner docked in the Susquehanna to Rutgers's head wrestling coach, Scott Goodale, things are moving in the right direction coach. All we need to get over the hump is recruiting Penn State's wrestling roster even harder next offseason.

Chance won by major, controlled the match throughout. Afterward said he was exhausted from all the hospital runs with his son being born this week -- i.e., he did pretty good with the hand he was dealt.

Lewis missed weight. His backup got destroyed.

Lock Haven 22, Rutgers 16
125: Nick Suriano, RU MD Josiah Kline, 18-5
133: Scott Delvecchio, RU dec DJ Fehlman, 10-5
141: Kyle Shoop, LHU MD Mike Van Brill, 13-0
149: Ronnie Perry, LHU dec Eleazar DeLuca, 5-1
157: Adam Klucker, LHU TF Nick Santos, 16-1
165: Chance Marsteller, LHU MD John Van Brill, 11-3
174: Joe Grello, RU dec Jared Siegrist, 3-2
184: Jordan Pagano, RU dec Corey Hazel, 4-2
197: Nick Gravina, RU dec Tristan Sponseller, 6-4
285: Thomas Haines, LHU WBF Razohnn Gross, 0:43

How did Chance do?
Did Lewis move heard he did not make weight?
Chance looked good. Handled John Van Brill (#13 seed last year at NCAAs) with ease, 11-3. Rode pretty good, took him down multiple times with no issues and wrestled well in the 3rd. Barring setback, he looks to be on track to make the stand and if he keeps wrestling well I wouldn't be surprised to see him hanging with one of the top guns with a "chance" to win late. Unfortunately for him, with at least Cenzo and IMAR, winning late is difficult to do as these guys have great tanks.

Lewis did not make weight and an RU guy posted on their wrestling board that it wasn't even close. Not sure what you do with a guy like that. Not such a surprise that he's got a big fan in PD3.

Very impressed with the way Lock Haven wrestled. I believe Lock Haven's 174-197 lbers were all winning in the first period only to lose late. Thought Lock Haven out wrestled Rutgers throughout the entire match so Scotty Moore has got to be happy today!

I'm glad LHU stuck with wrestling. That was a show even an executive with important scheduling obligations could appreciate watching.

was there, also. kudos to scott. had his kids ready and moving forward for seven minutes. was not impressed with rutgers. granted, they missed both lewis and ashnault(who i heard may be done for the year), but outside of what's his name & delvecchio, they were not aggressive, and wrestled defensively for the most part. nice to see the fieldhouse full. played fb at lh back in the day. lines started hour and a half before matches just to get in. got to see simons, powell, the blacksmith boys, swopie and many others. also heard that bill blacksmith passed recently. was a fraternity brother. just reinforces that we are all getting old :(.

Impressive one arm pin while keeping the other are in bounds. Big win for LHU.

The Cruisliners gotta be re-thinking their chances in the B1G this year without Ashnault.

Lol on the Cruiseliners term.

Quick look on the RU board highlighted a few posters competing with our HR friends for the Indignant Award, aka the award given to the fan displaying the most anger and annoyance over perceived unfair treatment. :)

Congrats to LHU and Scott Moore. Great to see them back with a competitive team. Pretty sure they are still not fully funded with ships. Hopefully that changes in the near future.
