and they'll take him as the overall #2 pick. Obviously, it is difficult to get athletes to stay in CLE for lots of reasons. A hometown kid, like Kosar, is ideal. The idea is that the Browns still want Watson to play for a year or two while they groom a kid for the future...

Just a rumor.

More likely a fan rumor. If the team was going to do that they would not be telling the fans.

If Allar does go then so be it. On to the next guy.

It's being talked up a bit by sundry commentators. As you know, sundry commentators are a dime a dozen these days.

I heard a guy yesterday speculating that Drew has raised some eyebrows during these playoffs...that he's improved his potential draft status...that this year's crop of quarterbacks is not too good so teams may look twice at a guy like Drew...that he might be a good fit for Cleveland which wouldn't be looking to start him immediately and could give him the luxury of learning the ropes as a back-up...and that if Penn State were to win it all this year, there'd be nothing left for Drew to achieve at the collegiate level.

That's a lot of mights, maybes, and creative speculation.

I may be wrong but if the draft were held tomorrow, I don't think Drew would be picked in the 1st round. Let's face it, that's a huge reason he decided to come back...and I think it was a good decision on his part.

Now let's say he lights it up against Notre Dame and then has a similarly good game against likely Ohio State. In that scenario, who knows...he might be tempted...and there might be some NFL teams trying to tempt him.

Personally, all I care about right now is this game tonight.

yep. But there is history here with the Browns. Bernie Kosar manipulated the draft and the supplemental draft in order to be taken by the Browns. He is and will always be a local hero.

If Allar and Penn State win the Natty...this may become more of a rumor...but..winning the Natty is the key...

IMO, the only way Allar and several others declare, is if they win a NC. — The NFL evaluation of individual players will also obviously play a significant role. If a player is predicted to go in the top 3 rounds….they will likely declare. Carter is the only slam dunk to go early. Singleton, Winston, and King are fairly likely to…but not a slam dunk. If we win a NC, I believe they all go, along with Allar and Allen…and maybe a few more.

Allar is a lock to go early. Lock.

Fan Boy rumors and there is no way he would go ahead of Ward or Sanders - none. If we win the Natty still doubtful he leaves unless he won it for us and wasn't just a game manager.

looking at this through my logic....all of these guys want to ultimately end up in the NFL, and, they all want to go as high as they can and make as much money as they can. If someone came to Allar and told him he would be the number 2 pick - or even top 5 - he'd be crazy not to consider it. How much higher could he go after another year at PSU? Let's face it, a small bolt of lightning hit Penn State this year and got them to the semi finals Are we counting on the same thing happening next year? If you can achieve your goals now, how many of us would bet on the come for the next year being better than this one?

Personally, I'd gladly take the Natty and lose Drew if that were the deal.

But reality is that of the four teams remaining, Vegas has us as the least likely to win it all.

Still, none of this matters. The only thing that matters is the game tonight.

I totally disagree. Sanders, for one, with his daddies guidance, will tell teams not to draft him. He'll eliminate a handful of teams he doesn't want to play for. I am not sold on Cam Ward and don't feel he's as good as a prospect as Allar over the long term. Allar is an Ohio kid that was a Browns fan for his entire life. he's the best shot the Browns have at drafting and retaining a blue-chip prospect. As others noted (@Richie O ), the Giants are also going after Allar. So it isn't just a Browns Thing.

Let's see on the one hand there is Cleveland, on the other hand there is 50 cents. Which hand do you pick? I know which one I would pick! LOL but if it happens it happens. He can go to a much better team next year. It's a curse to be picked by these garbage NFL teams. There are examples galore!

If I was a Top QB, there are a few teams that I would be scared to be drafted by, and CLE is definitely one of them.

It's not just them, the Giants are doing the same.

NYG is another one of them. They have become such a poorly managed team and their OL has been garbage for far too long.
While we're at it, let's add the NYJ and probably the raiders, at a minimum.

This is OT, but I just don't understand the NFL GMs.
There are very few QBs that come in and perform well out of the gate. Far more have been ruined by being thrown in too early (game is too fast) with crappy OLs (that get them killed and give them permanent happy feet).

Conversely, there is the Green Bay model that is either extremely lucky, or works very well.
I really liked what the Falcons did by drafting Penix after giving Cousins a contract. Even though they threw him in at the end of the season, it was lower expectations and the Falcons are not a hot mess of a team with a bad OL.

I know GMs have pressure to win and so keeping a 1st round QB on the bench is hard, but if I had any say, I would throw Kenny Pickett or Marcus Mariotta out there for a season and leave my rookie QB on the bench. Full.Stop.

he coming back to Penn State.

I agree with you. It's clear that he made a commitment to a coach with whom he has an emotional tie. Otherwise, Beau would not have left.

The only thing that could change this equation is two great games against first Notre Dame and then on January 20.

If that happens and we win the Natty, I would say to Drew: Mission accomplished; go in peace.

Of course, even in that scenario, I'd be thrilled if he came back for another year.

I don’t think he’ll go to a ‘much better team’. Every team drafting a QB high is doing so because they are a shit show.

If he’s smart, he will come back next year in order to avoid going to the browns.

I am a NY Giants fan. Until the franchise is completely reorganized from top to bottom and incompetent Daboll is fired, I do not want Allar to be fed to the wolves. The franchise is completely broken. The franchise could’ve broken Saquon as well. Thank God he got out for his sake. Both NY franchises are in a really bad spot right now. The Jets owner would not approve a trade for wr Jeudy due to his Madden rating! https://sports.yahoo.com/jets-owner...en-sons-to-influence-decisions-144949206.html

He has so much more upside than both. Sanders has a ton of baggage. Ward has a low ceiling.
I don't understand why it's primarily our fan base that doesn't comprehend how good Allar is.
His comp % in this offense is other worldly...scouts see glimpses of greatness. They don't with the other two.

We also can't look at him entering the draft as a bad thing. To have a QB go in the top 5 is a huge boost to recruiting. Beau thankfully left so we don't have to worry about him playing. Grunk can develop next year with limited pressure after at least a final four run and a weak schedule.

Is this allowed.....to contact a player that hasn't declared for the draft? Isn't that tampering? Not saying that wouldn't stop them from doing it, but is it legal?
