I'm not sure how it would net out. There would be an element that would sub some in-game consumption for some pre-game and not end up any drunker at their peak. And I can't see students, many of which are under 21 anyway, buying $8 beers.I really hope it never happens. Don't get me wrong - I love beer...but I don't love $8.50 Miller Lite / Bud / Yuengling swill and I think we have enough staggering, puking idiots in the 'Beav as it is.
Some of them have rich parents....I'm not sure how it would net out. There would an element that would sub some in-game consumption for some pre-game and not end up any drunker at their peak. And I can't see students, many of which are under 21 anyway, buying $8 beers.
It had the opposite effect at WVU. Fewer staggering, puking idiots because they don't want to pay that much for beer or they will only buy one or two throughout the game.I really hope it never happens. It also had the opposite effect at OSU and Minny and other schools that have started selling beer.
It'll happen at PSU eventually.
It's more likely fewer people who feel the need to do power hours before the game knowing they can't get beer inside.
Any discussion of beer sales at theBeav? There has been beer sales at the Shoe for the past two seasons and they are doing quite well.
The day they sell alcohol inside the Beaver Stadium and/or BJC will for an athletic event will be last attendance.
2 things ...I really hope it never happens. Don't get me wrong - I love beer...but I don't love $8.50 Miller Lite / Bud / Yuengling swill and I think we have enough staggering, puking idiots in the 'Beav as it is.
Sandy said alcohol sales would be considered on a case by case basis for events that are not PSU athletic events. She offered this summer's concert as an example.
They had similar results at Texas after starting to sell beer... fewer alcohol related incidents. Studies have shown this is normal for places making the switch to selling inside the stadiums. Texas is loving it, I think they reported an extra $2M in revenue thanks to alcohol sales this past season. It had the opposite effect at WVU. No more chugging those past two or three beers going in. Let be honest. Those who wanted to drink to oblivion still did weather or not alcohol is sold at the games. Just look in the stands after any game. There are tons of empty beer cans and airline liquor bottles left in the stands. That not even counting all the flasks. It also had the opposite effect at OSU and Minny and other schools that have started selling beer.
