It's the bitterness that remains because we miss what was taken from us.
The heart of the lion was cut out. Our proud history was whitewashed and our reputations were stained to the pleasure of the baboons who were really in control. We feel there is no hope for it to be restored so each year sprouts new hope that a new legacy can be built to overshadow the past. So until then, maybe it is 'damned if we don't, damned if we play.'
