McHenry

I read some where that Kurt has already made a unofficial visit to PSU last fall.
Home football game if I remember correct.
Unofficial visit? how does that work?

I believe there was a picture that included him with a few other wrestling prospects at a football game.

I know...and I get an occasional beat down from one of the angry ones. But some of those guys just never want to face reality in the face...and never want to accept how bleak our future looks - from a potential NCAA champion position - if we don't get our recruiting in gear. These are not the old days where you could win with a couple finalists and five or six other AAs. If you don't bring your guns loaded for bear you will never reach the peak...at least not for the next 3-4 years...

Reality is a fickle wench. On occasion, I've had aspersions cast in my direction on HR, but generally speaking not out of line. There are a few that live in an alternate universe, but we too have those but I digress.

His frame will fill out. He's not some 5-footer. 3X Champ.

Have to feel good about nabbing Teske now.

Excellent crystal ball there. Any winning numbers to reveal for the powerball? How about some good stocks for next year? About the same probability of you calling "3X champ" here.

Size is one thing (and can be overcome by excellent technical wrestling i.e. Hall) but when you are unspectacular in 2/3 positions in Folkstyle that is a problem...

Watching the match with Mastro, who I believe is really good on top, McHenry's motion on bottom was excellent. Top game isn't there, but neither is Cenzo's.

Ya his bottom game seems ok but his top game will not score points at the college level. Rewatch WNO with Heinselmann and he gave up 2 escape points in less than 5 seconds combined.

This is the match I was thinking of. Heinselmann is pretty small himself.

Different styles for different wrestlers. While I love the top game as much as anyone, the TD is still the name of the game if you want to get to the top of the podium. What good would Zain's top game be against a kid who could take him down consistently? Fortunately, nobody can (besides the occasional fluke). Lizak suddenly becomes very dangerous when he can hold his own in neutral (see nationals).

If he puts on the size and matures, he will be a force.

Never expected him to come to PSU at all. Academics and opportunity.

We will be just fine anyway.

Unless you are 5 foot 1, size should never be a problem. McHenry will get there.
This is exactly the concern with Jacob Decatur. He is dominant in high school at 106, and people keep saying he will grow into 125. Problem is I don’t even think the kid is 5’0 tall. I wouldn’t be shocked If he was listed under.

Personally I'm not as worried about Jacob Decatur. Yes he is very short but I think he will be even better than his more heralded brother in college. I've watched pretty much every match of his on Flo and he is surprisingly strong and has very good hips as well. He will only get stronger in college.

Couldn't disagree more.
