Men’s BB - Watkins is starting

Not to distract from today's game, but I just saw this on the espn Gamecast page:

"Four-star 2018 point guard Rasir Bolton just committed to Penn State, per coach Ty White."

Josh Reaves is playing out of his mind in this one. I LOVE his game, so much hustle

Signed LOI. He committed back in July. Dread also signed.

Reaves is a one man wrecking crew. He's all over the court offensively and defensively. He must have at least 5 steals.

Reaves 12 pts including 2-2 from 3pt range. Also 6 rebounds and a number of turnovers created.

Carr has 13 pts, a lot posting up against a smaller guard.

PSU out rebounding FD 21-11
PSU outscoring FD from the FT line by 9

Garner 0-4, 0-3 from 3pt range

Watkins with a block on one end, followed by a fast break dunk on the other end... followed by setting a screen for a Carr 3. Whoever said Watkkins won't make a difference last game is laughable..

Penn State up 73-53 with 3:33 remaining.

Carr with 20 points and 7 assists
Watkins with 15 and 6 rebounds
Reaves with 17, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists
Stevens with 10 and 6 rebounds

Bostick with 8 off the bench so far... Garner still with a goose egg, and we have put up over 70.

Penn State wins 81-57!

Stevens 12 points - 7 rebounds - 4 assists
Watkins 15-5-1
Carr 20-4-7
Garner 0-2-1
Reaves 17-9-4
Bostick 12-2-0
Zemgulis 3-1-0
Harrar 2-2-0

81-57 final. Bostick with a career high 12 pts coming off the bench, Reaves 1 reb shy of a double-double. 5 players in double figures... shep with 0 - his shot was off, to say the least.

Above all, I'm very happy with the effort that was put in on the defensive end. Shep taking a charge late in a 16 pt game, on a night where he went scoreless?? That's great to see.

What type of point production would be reasonable to expect from Garner?

I would think about 10-12 a game. He's a senior and started as a freshman so he's certainly got the experience. He really had a off day today.
Jinx, haha. Not just an off day though, he has had (hopefully) an off 2 games now.

I watched PSU against Lafayette and Shep had 5 3's I think. I don't recall the number of shots but I'm sure he was shooting above 50% from beyond the arc.

Shep needs to come off the bench. A starting five of Carr, Stevens, Watkins, Reeves, and Bostick is about as athletic as PSU has ever had.... and all back next year. Garner, Moore, Pierce, and Wheeler are good off the bench. Harar and Butrick should RS. Zemgulius should sit....

All come back for the next 3 years with that 5 (Minus Reaves is a jr)... just let that sink in. That is going to be one solid lineup before they graduate... after them, though, the fall off is real, beyond Jamari (and Step this year).

Hopefully Myles and Rasir are as advertised, or better. I think that Harrar will be alright too. I'm glad to see him get some PT in these games.
