Michigan hit with 6 allegations of Level 1 violations for Sign Stealing Cheating

You have no idea what will happen to Michigan. They have 6 level 1 violations. That isn't nothing, it isn't a slap on the wrist, and it isn't going away. What happened at Michigan is unprecedented. You're saying the same sh&t Michigan was saying just a month ago. Well, until their response to the NOA got leaked out. Now their fans are in damage control and not so much denial. They've finally realized, this sh&t is real.
Believe me, not all of them do.

Believe me, not all of them do.
Most don't from what I can tell
I don't think anyone is saying "Michigan is innocent and the NCAA has nothing"
The general response is "the NCAA won't do anything"--they desperately want/need Michigan to agree to something--see Tennessee.
It's unlikely any court sides with the NCAA

Dude, lmao. You actually believe Michigan has power over the NCAA? Michigan has 100 lawyers working on this because the administration sh&t the bed against the NCAA with their non-compliance and arrogance every step of the way. The NCAA is 100% on schedule, and actually moving very fast.

You really don't get the difference of how hard they hit Tennessee, vs what they will do to Michigan. And, that was just for recruiting. This is not just recruiting, it's systemic cheating with multiple staff members involved. Furthermore, the NCAA has mountains of evidence. Jesus, why do you think Harbaugh left. He was toast.

The clown is such a moron - he talks about the NCAA like the are a separate unrelated entity to the member Universities.... The actual reality is that the NCAA is a "self regulatory" entity made up of the Member Universities themselves (in fact, the Presidents and Chancellors of the Member Institutions (i.e., the most senior ranking officer of each member Institution) is the actual representative to the NCAA. Quite the opposite of this silly moron's claims that the NCAA has no power or authority, they have plenty of power and authority - and the people running the Member Institutions (the Presidents and Chancellors) are the very parties that gave them the power and authority.

I understand what you are saying and I'd say "it depends".

And it depends mostly on what evidence the NCAA has against you.
For example, if the evidence of wrong doing is one person (he said - he said situation) and maybe a couple of vague text messages then I agree that not cooperating is probably the best bet.

In Michigan's case, we do not know how much evidence the NCAA has, but it appears to be a lot. Recall the language from the Big Ten letter to UM during the 2023 season ("we know and can prove...")
In the instances where the NCAA has you dead to rights, it's best to say "our bad and collaboratively work with them on a suitable punishment"

It seems to me that if you refuse to admit wrongdoing (in the face of significant evidence against you) that you are just pissing them off which would likely lead to harsher punishments.

Michigan's position seems to be that they are debating any of the facts, but are saying that the NCAA is over reaching. The problem with that strategy is that the NCAA is the one who gets to decide if they are overreaching.

And yes, Michigan could opt to try this in court, but:
a) given that the NCAA is a voluntary member organization and has almost assuredly dotted all i's and crossed all t's with regards to it's rules regarding investigations, that seems like a losing idea.
b) going to court also opens Michigan up to discovery. I strongly suspect they do not want that.
It seems to me that the NCAA doesn't hand out 6 level one violations flippantly and without undeniable proof or at least we would hope. Michigan imo is fighting simply because they are Michigan and have an unreasonable heightened sense of self-worth. Arrogance is probably the biggest factor here. I think Michigan misses the fact that in this instance no one cares they are Michigan, and they might be missing the fact that most of college football hates them. No one who counts is going to come to their rescue and they can't stonewall their way through this one. For them circling the wagons will only get the place burned down. I hope.

They have power as long as it's being given to them. There's no real power

If you think about MSU (Nassar) and tOSU (Strauss), there were as many if not more problems than with Sandusky and the NCAA didn't really intervene. I guess you could argue that the NCAA realized its overreach with Penn State, but they are absent from the other two similar cases.

Furthermore, every single member of the B1G is beyond pi$$ed about what Michigan has done. There will be no quarter given by the B1G.

Because those were legal cases which needed prosecuted by the law. Michigan's situation is not that. Although, the FBI is looking into gambling issues. This is 100% in the NCAA's realm of authority.

Same as Penn State. Penn State had reduced scholarships, fines, postseason bans, etc. The MSU and tOSU cases were far more expansive.

The NCAA didn't realize it's overreach. The PSU BOT bent over saying "Thank you sir may I have another?" OSU & MSU defended their institutions.

We will always be a target. They saw their opening and took it. Joe made a lot of enemies in college football by rubbing their nose in winning by doing it the right way. It is what it is.

But with Michigan, schools in the Big Ten and across the country have written to and called the NCAA screaming for justice. I can't see them getting off or just getting their fingers slapped.

Nassar and Strauss absolutely had more problems than the Sandusky mess, especially as it relates to the NCAA.
Student athletes were directly harmed at MSU and OSU (and Michigan). PSU's scandal had ZERO to do with the NCAA. In fact, PSU is still the only D1 program to have never been found guilty of a major NCAA infraction.

But I think the NCAA lost it's zeal for dealing with sexual abuse cases.

This is an entirely different animal.
