I just had a hunch that you were a lot taller than Mineo!Spencer obviously agreed so he ended it early. As for Mineo, he and I don't exactly see eye to eye.

kinda saw that one coming...Drake doesn’t like tough wrestling.
You act like it’s normal for 2 guys to enter a tournament, wrestle all scheduled matches, then go home like nothing ever happened.Lee/Ayala reminds me of the time Bo Pipher wouldn't MFF in the finals of the Scuffle against Nolf, so Nolf went out and wrecked Pipher and then taunted him, pissed off that he, a wrestler, was being compelled to wrestle against another wrestler. The audacity.
Oh wait, I have that wrong, they just wrestled and shook hands afterwards.
Jason did hit a sweet Jonesy tilt in that match though.Lee/Ayala reminds me of the time Bo Pipher wouldn't MFF in the finals of the Scuffle against Nolf, so Nolf went out and wrecked Pipher and then taunted him, pissed off that he, a wrestler, was being compelled to wrestle against another wrestler. Exactly. It’s supposed to be some type of insult to Lee that Ayala didn’t want to medical forfeit, but wanted to wrestle. That the kid wanted to wrestle is a positive. In the grand scheme of things this isn’t really a big deal, but I think it does reveal some arrogance on Lee’s part.Lee/Ayala reminds me of the time Bo Pipher wouldn't MFF in the finals of the Scuffle against Nolf, so Nolf went out and wrecked Pipher and then taunted him, pissed off that he, a wrestler, was being compelled to wrestle against another wrestler. Legend of Spencer Lee adds a new chapter.I have no problem with Spencer tonight or this year. Coming off double ACL surgery.......you want me to wrestle hard in the room against someone who: A. Doesn't really like me and B. Knows that any damage to my knee(s) means he will be starting and wrestling at NCAAs? Hard pass. What seems clear is that Spencer was expecting Ayala to MFF. Ayala refused. The coaches sat on their tiny thumbs. So Spencer throttled him. Him stating "You wanted this" and "That is my teammate" indicates o me that Spencer didn't want to throttle him but Ayala and the coaches forced his hand.....so he Spencer Lee'd him. I got no problem with Spencer on this one.
As far as Mama Bear saying that Spencer "Acted Like he wasn't wrestling his teammate" and "That makes me sick"......I'll chock that up to Mama Bear Pride/Protection. Surely she didn't expect Spencer to gently toss him on pillows after covering him with layers of bubble wrap? Or let him win like your dad did when you were two. YOU wanted to wrestle Spencer. YOU did wrestle Spencer. YOU got your a$$ whooped. Shake hands and learn from it Ayala IS Good. Spencer is Spencer F@#king Lee
If there is any "Blame" in this situation....I think it should fall on the coaches. The stood/stooped by while this animosity played out. Then again....maybe it was their way to fire up Spencer Lee at the expense of the Ayala Family. Drwarfs can be geniuses...right
I don’t know how I feel in this case. Sometimes a wrestlers idea of what’s best for him isn’t the same as the coaches idea. Personally, I think Lee thought shutting it down for the weekend was best for him and felt it was the coaches place to instruct his unattached wrestler in redshirt to FF. Spencer, with his own ideas on how to be at his peak health wise in March and also being an all time Hawkeye great didn’t feel he should be the one FFing and earned the right to walk out there and get his hand raised. I just think Brands was giving the kid he’s gonna have in his lineup the next 3 years the chance to compete and if Spencer wanted to sit it out it would be him taking the FF.Exactly. Yeah, I was wondering who we contact for payment, Tom and Terry?Wait…… I can get paid?!?!? Why didn’t someone tell me?
Towards the end that was true. They’ve wrestled plenty of times. Gilman also said if you want to be humbled step on the mat with Spencer.Memory may be failing me but didn't Gilman say Spencer wouldn't wrestle him when he was at Iowa?

On a related note, is it just me or does it seem like Spencer relishes in letting everyone know he’s calling the shots and wrestles when he he chooses to wrestle? It just seems like every interview he gives this year he makes it a point thatvhe makes the call. IMO, Brands made a “power play” last night. If you want to sit out then sit out but you’ll be the one FFing.
I just feel, after reading 11 pages of HR posts, there is a lot of drama going on in Iowa's room. Personally I feel that SL felt it was time to put the youngster in his place BUT he better do it quick....kinda like when I wrestle around with my grandson...the whole clown show depicts the state of affairs in the room. Gobblin had it right. The match should not of happened. No win situation. Lucky one of them didn't re-injure the other. Read what momma bear tweeted. Spenser would make a good politician.Towards the end that was true. They’ve wrestled plenty of times. Gilman also said if you want to be humbled step on the mat with Spencer.
Spencer and drake probably haven’t wrestled as much since Spencer’s been rehabbing the past 21 months. He was only cleared for live wrestling mid October of this year. Last year he was rehabbing and trying to maintain his knees so much that he’d only be on the mat 5-10 minutes a week. And that wasn’t hard go’s. Then obviously, surgery shut him down for 10 plus months.
This whole thing is much ado about nothing. Both Spencer and Drake respect eachother. That’s coming from the man himself.
I don’t doubt their respect for each. It’s Spencer’s relationship with his coach that I question.Towards the end that was true. They’ve wrestled plenty of times. Gilman also said if you want to be humbled step on the mat with Spencer.

FIFYWho would expect drama in a room that's coached by a couple of EQ-limited coaches?
Oh come on man, seriously. You’re digging right now buddy.I don’t doubt their respect for each. It’s Spencer’s relationship with his coach that I question.
I’ll bet Drakes Mom is kicking herself in the ass this morning for spouting off before thinking things may not be as they seem. Now there’s gotta be some awkwardness between the two.
I usually respect your take but I think JTS is prob right about the second paragraph. The quiet stuff got said.Oh come on man, seriously. You’re digging right now buddy.
The first paragraph was the come on man inducing response.I usually respect your take but I think JTS is prob right about the second paragraph. The quiet stuff got said.
(Not sure about the 1st paragraph; I’ve been reading JTS’s posts about it and think I need to see more friction between coach and wrestler first.)
It’s possible, the frustration is apparent. SL is watching his contemporaries live as the faces of international and collegiate wrestling. Fame and accomplishments he should have. Meanwhile he is left as a ghost riding a stationary bike alone in the back of the training room with nothing but public speculation and the hollow ring of his coaches telling him he’s on the right path.Oh come on man, seriously. You’re digging right now buddy.
I’m not saying he hasn’t been frustrated. Of course he has. Anybody would be dealing with what he’s had to deal with. He hated not attempting to qualify for the Olympics. Hated it. He’s said that publicly. But to say there’s something relevant between Spence and T and T is crazy. It’s possible, the frustration is apparent. HimselfWhose got a snowball's chance of beating him?
That can happen when an entire fan base treats you like a diety.
Simple yes or no. If you are a coach and one of your athletes keeps saying he's the one calling the shots and will wrestle when he decides he wants to wrestle, would you consider that to be disrespectful towards you?I usually respect your take but I think JTS is prob right about the second paragraph. LOL. I haven't needed a safe space since I did this. You just annoy me.
