Testament is a great, great movie. The scene of Jane Alexander sewing her dead daughter’s shroud, heartrending. On the Beach is classic and a good nomination.
But in the same genre there's a better flick...released in 1983 and under-appreciated but one of the best I've ever seen: Testament.
Depressing...but very powerful. There are scenes in the movie that stay with you a long time.

Horses. They shoot horses. It's not about heroin or basketball. 😉They shoot horse don't they?
Always thought that was an underrated movie. If you’ve never seen the directors cut, gotta watch it.Kingdom of Heaven
So sorry for you man. Godspeed..It was pretty much just another movie until I lived it and lost my wife. I wish I could say I had nothing to be sorry for.
Must be me but I thought Kingdom of heaven was really good.Kingdom of Heaven
So did I, but the director's cut is far superior to the in-theater version.Must be me but I thought Kingdom of heaven was really good.
Nicholson was terrific .The boat scene was really funnyClean & Sober
Girl, Interrupted
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest
"The Road" has it by a landslide. Nothing redeeming at all about that movie. Just pure fear, depression and hopelessness. Also:
Requiem
The Road
Million Dollar Baby
Room
The Wrestler
Good yes. Uplifting no.Must be me but I thought Kingdom of heaven was really good.
