Statement from Head Coach James Franklin:
For 125 years Penn State proudly followed a very simple idea: "Black Shoes. Basic Blues. No Names. All Game."
In 2012, for the first time in the program's history, names adorned the back of the jersey to forever identify the men who stayed loyal, sacrificed & chose to play for this institution during the most difficult of times. The 2012 team, permanently recognized in Beaver Stadium, will hold an enduring place in our program's history. Their commitment will never be forgotten.
However, it's time we bring back the tradition that represented Penn State for 125 years. We are a strong family, playing for one goal, one university and there is only one name that truly matters, Penn State.
We Are.
This says it all. Now let's get the BoT off our back.

Honestly it's more annoying and crotchety to me than traditional. It was Joe's thing...so was not using the internet to recruit players (Do you guys want to go back to that too?).

My roommate at PSU dated Very's granddaughter for a while. He met Very and said that, even in his eighties, his handshake told you that he was once a hell of a football player.
Only most of the people whining about having the names for the last few years.

I read Joe was using skype to recruit in his last years. But im not exactly sure how effective twitter is for recruiting. Its cool to see Franklin and some of his staff twitting, but I think most coaching staffs just have a young assistant update their twitter.
Just beautiful, simply, the best news of the summer, besides the recruiting. I couldn't read them anyhow from from SCU section. My day has been made and Joe and Fran are smiling.
