NATO

He could beat Sorensen i won’t say he will though but it looks like he’s getting acclimated to the weight class well since trying to go 141 earlier this season. He beat Bannister by a point last time they wrestled and now blanked him 8-0 the second time around. What will hurt Hayes against Sorensen will be the same thing that hurt Micah last year against him

I would think Nato's lack of matches might leave him unseeded at the nationals (happened to one of Zain's opponents his freshman year as I recall). An early trip to the consys would be a huge demand on his health and weight management issues. Damned nice thought:)

Don't think any highly seeded wrestler wants to see NaTo in the R32 or R16 if he hypothetically went into the Big Dance unseeded. He would be the bad draw.

Delgado was unseeded as 2x defending after sitting the regular season.
Your point about "no matter what" is correct, but the underlying facts aren't. Delgado missed most of the regular season but not all of it, took 4th at B10s, and finished the year 10-5 -- which means he lost during the regular season.

Finally was able to get caught up on my Mess Board backlog, lots of good Intel & and some decent Takery here in this thread.

Still, the best of both is the ascendance of NaTo's deep Eyetalian heritage and that we can now refer to him as Natio Tomasellio.

Ryan was protecting BoJo's seed.
what? lol
He wrestled Valencia 2x this year, and is married with 2 small children at home. He is going to be a top the 3 seed at worse 4. So no matter what he has Valencia or Hall on his side of the bracket. Try to make some sense

I'm assuming BoJo didn't make the trip out east this weekend?

[Just curious whether 174 will be a competitive match today.]

I think Bfosr1 is on your side. Think he was being sarcastic as no one would possibly seed protect against Maryland

Speaking of try to make some sense: you make it sound like Jordan's wife + 2 kids belong on his strength of schedule. Let's either stop invoking them or start discussing where they should be seeded at nationals.

LOL that's not what i'm saying at all, how can you possibly be that obtuse? i'm saying it makes zero sense for him to travel to Maryland to wrestle some guy he will tech or pin, when he will be traveling to Rutgers later in the weekend. Him not making that trip and staying back with his kids makes sense. It's different because it's different, wrestling isn't Football where you have 1 game a week. Not sure what you are struggling with here.

You tell me how many matches Quentin Wright stayed home with his pregnant wife.

an unborn baby vs 2 kids already in the world. hmmmm which is more work?

What does Quintin Wright have to do with Bo? Every man is different, for Bo his family comes first i'm fine with that. My guess is the team never went back to C-bus after the Maryland match and traveled to Jersey. Instead of being away from his kids for 4 days he decided he would just travel to NJ. I put my family before everything else too, sports don't mean as much to me as you i guess.

I'm not the one who injected his family situation into a discussion on where he should be seeded.

I admire Jordan for being a husband and father while being a student and athlete. That said, he was not a husband or father when he accepted the Ohio State athletic scholarship. He has a job that requires approximately 10% travel. It's not an either-or proposition. He can do both.

This ^^^ delgado was taking L's that year and really never seemed healthy to me

Umm... you’re a fan. Wrestling is part of his job. If you’re able to do your job, you put on your big boy pants and do it.

He is doing his job, raising his family. He's a student athlete wrestling isn't not his job as he's not being paid. Wtf lol

I did not know Bo Jordan was a walk on. I have left my wife at home with 3 small kids for a business trip, you do what is required. If there is some kind of serious issue at home different story. If not, he should be on the mat.

I wish someone had told me when my kids were young that fathers get graded on a curve.

thats fine if you think that but to act like he's protecting a seed by not wrestling Maryland is comical.

Good thing he doesn't play baseball, basketball or hockey. He chose the right sport for excuses.

Not to mention that he always seems to have time for squats and deadlifts :D

Do you know for sure Bo wasn't in Maryland with the team?

I dont know what having kids has to do with traveling to a match.

There are millions & millions of people with jobs that require travel. Very few tell their boss they cant go because they have a couple kids. Thats all part of basic planning with your wife, at least in this case.

However, its understandable giving a match to the kid behind you when its not going to matter in the team score, among other reasons.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

I'll assume you meant to say he has more to gain by winning than he has to lose by losing the match. Even that proposition is ridiculous, however. NaTo is ranked #1 by the national ranking services (Flo, Intermat, Wrestlestat), so he's likely #1 -- or at worst #2 -- for seeding purposes. In other words, he has virtually (perhaps literally) nothing to gain by winning, and faces a significant drop in seeding by losing.

Flo, Intermat and Wrestlestat rankings have zero influence on postseason seeds. If both Suriano and Nato enter the Big Ten tournament undefeated, I'm fairly confident Suriano is getting the #1 seed. Hence my statement about not wrestling hurting more than helping.
