NCAA Wrestling Championship - Session 4

New yc I agree with the deterrent. But I put it up there in that situation with:

Seton hall getting flagrant foul call against them with little time to go instead of just giving foul and shots for that.

Weber at Michigan calling timeout in final and instead of ref saying you don't have any more timeouts they call the technical and game is over.
Let them play within the rules but don't step in. I guess I feel that way when I see a sport like golf finally realizing that some rules they have that penalize the player or outcome is not needed.
So how about if Webber would have called that timeout with three minutes left, should the technical have been given? How about four minutes? Five minutes? The point is, a rule is a rule regardless of how much time is left. Officials shouldn't be helping either team out by not calling something that's a violation of the rules. Last minute of play, its Wild West time! I agree they need to be more lenient with some touch fouls and for the most part, they are. But flagrant violations of the rules cannot be overlooked just because there's less than a minute left. And why should one team benefit for breaking the rules while the other team is following them?

Of course opinions matter. Man it's like watching CNN or MSNBC for goodness sake. God forbid you disagree.

Opinions are what changes rules. Look at golf they just changed a bunch of rules because people gave opinions to have the rules changed. Now those opinions are becoming fact.

Can we get back to talking about the team now.

I agree with your post. I hope they looked at that rule and changed it. These are kids and in that situation he didn't know.

Now I played high school golf and followed the rules and called several penalties on myself. I hated doing it and didn't agree with it but I still did it.

Is there a sport that has more inane rules than golf? How did they even come up with half of them?

That is why I'm saying what I'm saying because of the discussion lately about the rules that have been layered up for years is taking away the fun of playing. So in one year they wiped out many of them. Several were penalties that I had to call on myself.

I agree with you about golf, but I don't think basketball has that problem. Calling a timeout when you don't have one should be a technical. Shoving someone in the back should be a flagrant foul. The only major rules I would like to see changed in college basketball is too many timeouts and giving a minute for a coach to replace a player that fouled out. They took away one timeout, but with TV timeouts there are still way too many. I also think they're too quick to call a jump ball. When it was a tip off every time there was a tie up, they called it a lot less.

I agree with the timeouts. Every time I want to watch a golf tournament at 3 a college basketball game has 3-5 minutes left at 240. They always go over. That is crazy

When you actually understand the rules of golf they're pretty simple, and (for the most part) make perfect common sense. It's all about equity.

I'm sure they are, but that's one game I've never understood the appeal and I just can't get into it. Anything a 90 year old can beat me at is not a sport. :)

I can counter with anything that Dustin Johnson plays is indeed a sport.

I would argue that golf is the hardest sport. It requires everything. Yes 90 year olds play but if they can beat you then you need to work harder.

I don't work hard at any sport anymore and I could still whip a 90 year old in all of them except maybe bowling (which I don't consider a sport either). There's probably a few 90 year olds who could beat me in long distance running as well, but that I could work on and fix in a few months.

You're hitting a ball that's sitting still...try hitting it if it's being thrown at you at 90 mph.

True but you have to hit the ball 70-90 times a round. Not just 3-4 times a game.

But you don't fail at it seven out of every ten times. I know golf is hard (which is why I don't play it) but hitting a baseball is harder.

My Dad played MLB and is a lifelong single digit golfer. He agrees only to a point, and that involves a curve ball. Other than that, he thinks golf is harder.

Hold the phone USA wrestling just retracted it said Ohio state still has shot
