We play @ Nebraska 11/7/20, and I'm debating making this a road trip game with my 13 year old daughter..... Any of you guys ever do Lincoln for a road game?

Is it a good destination??

I've been to many NU-PSU games at Beaver Stadium, and from that perspective their fans seem OK. Not as cool as Wiscy fans, but OK.

Great place for a game! Fantastic fans. My step father played for Nebraska in the 60-70’s.

The stadium is in the city so tailgating is going on all around the city in small lots. Neat atmosphere.

Love the inside of the stadium. Very intimate. Seats are really close the field. Kinda feels like Lambeau.

My boys had the opportunity to run on the field. Really cool experience.

Went in (I think) 2003 with Mrs KG. Loved it. There's a really good paleontology museum on campus, and their capital building is interesting (only state with a single legislative chamber). We flew in and out of Omaha and went to their zoo and the nearby SAC Museum. Both are recommended. Good beef everywhere too. Good fans. Their on-campus theater is named for Johnny Carson. He was an alum (and I did not know this until I looked it up, but he had a minor in physics).

Lived in Lincoln from 81 - 84. Very nice town. As others have stated, nice cozy stadium, nice fans. I was lucky in that those were some of the years that PSU played Nebraska.
Note: you can fly into Lincoln or Omaha. Omaha is only 45 minutes down the interstate. Be prepared to pay $$$ for hotels in Lincoln as they jack up prices on game week (as in other places). Maybe stay in Omaha?

Trust me. I have to go the hotel route every home game .... There is no place on Earth that jacks up hotel prices worse than State College for a football weekend.... I'm used to get robbed on hotel gouging.

I've never been, but as the artist Dallas Greene, known as City and Colour, says in his song Comin' Home, "I've been to Lincoln, Nebraska. Hell you know it ain't worth sh*t." I'll show myself out.

When driving a camper across country, I stopped at a Lincoln grocery store to resupply. There was a big display of Coke, Diet Coke cases stacked, spelling out “go Big Red”. My wife asked the clerk if that meant they were having a sale on chewing gum. The stunned look on the clerk’s face was priceless.

My across-the-street neighbor, an IU grad, went to Indiana’s game this season at Nebraska. He loved it. Was very impressed with the whole experience. I told him about a place called Tina’s Cafe, which I saw on the BTN. Supposed to have great, gigantic cinnamon buns. He went there Sunday morning, but as it turns out, it was closed. Must be run by Chick-Fil-A types.

very much so. have been there several times. on our last trip, we couldn't have been treated better. went to a bar early(11:30 for a evening game) and it was already full. as we looked for a table, a group asked us to join them. we had drinks with them until a table opened up. had one round at our table and never bought another drink the rest of our stay. waiter would say this group over here sent you this pitcher. went on all day. we even got cheered for getting up and singing the ps fight song. i'm sure every experience is not like ours, but i'd highly recommend going. great venue, great fans.

Going there with a buddy from S Jersey who grew up in Omaha and Lincoln. We identified this game about a year ago and have been committed to going. He was hoping to see the Cornhuskers at Beaver Stadium, but they don't seem to be coming there anytime soon.

That is odd--just the road game in 2021 and not a return match. 2024 is the next home game vs Nebraska.

I've been to 3 games in Lincoln. 2 PSU and 1 Nebraska vs Texas. Fun venue, and if you're pondering going, I'd go. It's as close to a college town peer to State College as there is in the B1G. Tailgating is hit or miss due to the layout, but there's a bar district within easy walking distance. Fun stadium, good people, a good trip.

Its BIG cross division conference scheduling. That is how they do it, with the exception of a six game H/H series vs. Iowa that we have. We don't get Minny for a few years at home either, and the last time we played them was 2016.

BTW - I was at the 2003 game, and am thinking of going next year. As I recall the down town area was fun - fans were great. However, not sure they still will be now, given their seasons the last couple of years.

I have lived in Omaha since 1977. The football atmosphere in Lincoln and memorial stadium is awesome. You and your daughter will have a great time. The fans are very cordial and welcoming. Flying in to Omaha will be more economical than flying into Lincoln. The drive from Omaha to Lincoln is normally 50-60 minutes but on game day, you can double that.
Eppley Airfield is in the northeast part of Omaha and you will be taking I-80 west to Lincoln. I would find a hotel in the southwest part of Omaha, which will shorten your drive to Lincoln. Conversely, getting out of Lincoln and back to Omaha after the game can take hours. You should probably plan on returning home on Sunday. Good luck!!

I have been to a variety of venues over the years and Lincoln was one of the best. We stayed downtown at the Embassy Suites and walked to Memorial Stadium. There was a good selection of bars and restaurants in the area. As mentioned by others the local people and Nebraska fans were some of the friendliest we encountered on various away game trips. It was not unusual to be stopped on the street and asked if we were having a good time. Our only problem gameday was Big 10 refs. Overall a great place for a PSU and college football fan in general.

I’m definitely looking at making this trip since we don’t get to play in Lincoln all that often. That ticket will probably be a tough one to get too.

The odd part is that you have to go through Iowa to get to the airport. That's due to the river changing its banks sometime after the borders were finalized, as I recall.

Yes, there is always a return visit even if it takes a couple years. The conference is currently in a six year scheduling cycle which ends with the 2021 season. Our annual crossover opponent during those six years is Iowa but we'll play every other west division team twice, home-and-home, within those six years. The next scheduling cycle begins in 2022 when our annual crossover opponent will be Illinois. We'll again play the other west division teams twice, home-and-home, within that six year cycle.

Of course all that will be blown up if more conference realignment occurs.

We attended a PSU-NEB game in 1979. We spent a week there and enjoyed walking the town and campus - great welcoming people, eager to please. Our favorite place we found was a below-ground restaurant with great food and even greater waiters. Worst part was the game - we lost!
