Saw the article (linked below) indicating that there is a new player transfer rule in CFB that does not require a transferring player to get the permission of the school he is leaving in order to transfer. Was not aware that was ever required. Thought that a player could transfer without getting consent, so long as he was willing to sit out a year.
I also thought a player could transfer without getting consent and play immediately (i.e., the next season) at the new school if he is a grad transfer (i.e., has completed his undergraduate degree requirements at his old school), or he is willing to play without scholarship during his first year at his new school.
I am wondering why TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson is beefing about the new rule and what, precisely, is new about this new transfer rule. .Perhaps someone here has a handle on that?
