I know it's a long way off but what are your guesses as to next year's starters.
Neither Starocci nor Brooks look particularly big for their current classes, but it’s going to depend on what weight they are looking towards the Olympics.Does Brooks bump to 197?
Let’s take it one step farther, what about Ohio State , Iowa,Michigan starting lineup?Does Brooks bump t
I don’t think they’re going to be big players in the transfer portal, especially at 197, unless someone comes to them like Dean did. Cochran is good. Maybe not potential champion good, but he should qualify without an outside shot at AA with a good tournament. With Barr, Ryder, Mirasola, etc. coming in in the next couple years, it doesn’t make much sense to get an outside guy.Need a 125/133 and a 197. Otherwise there are 113.5 pts returning from 7 guys with two champs, two 2nd placers, and two 3rd placers. Facundo is the other returner.
Noto from LH would look good at 125 as would Jaxon Smith from Md. at 197. Just saying.
Do they need to be with 8 starters returning. Cochran? I’ve never heard anyone talk about the kid but I do see he is from Utah like Barraclough. Not that it means anything but is he beating Nico in the room?I don’t think they’re going to be big players in the transfer portal, especially at 197, unless someone comes to them like Dean did. I think they may look for a lightweight in the portal if possible. Noto seems like an obvious choice, but he already transferred once from NC St to LH. Aren’t there penalties for portaling more than once as an undergrad? I think I read that here once. Regardless, with the questions about Robbie’s health (and I know he’s rehabbing with plans to wrestle next year, but the shoulder issue is clearly chronic at this point, so it’s not a given he will be able to), it does make sense to see who’s available in the portal at 125/133, although I think the bigger push is going to be in recruiting with Lilledahl or someone like that.
Haines really struggles to 157 right? Is this Terrell's year?Howard
Evans
Bartlett
Van Ness
Haines
Facundo
Starocci (limited matches)
Brooks (limited matches)
Cochran or Barr
Kerkvliet
I heard an interview at some point that Starocci plans on going 74 and Brooks 86 for the trials. I would assume that dictates their weight. Not sure Barr could go up. I’d love to see Barr slide in a 184 and brooks bump up like Beau did. But I don’t know that will work or make sense. I still like Beau at 133 and Evans at 141. I think Beau is the favorite at 133 immediately.Neither Starocci nor Brooks look particularly big for their current classes, but it’s going to depend on what weight they are looking towards the Olympics.
After placing 3rd at 141, I've jumped off the Beau to 133 train.I heard an interview at some point that Starocci plans on going 74 and Brooks 86 for the trials. Yeah I think most people will agree with you and for obvious reasons. And for the record I’m not saying Beau can’t get better and win it at 141. He’s a tremendous athlete. The thing that I always struggle with from him is the length of some of these guys compared to him and his struggles on bottom against Woods and Hardy. Both who come back. I thought Beau wrestled a great tournament. He was at his best. That weight class has all of the top guys coming back next year. And Mathews isn’t going away either. I don’t see anyone at 133 that can keep pace with Beau next year other than Mendez. After placing 3rd at 141, I've jumped off the Beau to 133 train.
I'm surprised this rumor persists. Haines said in an interview this year that his walk around weight is 165. That is NOT a big cut.Haines really struggles to 157 right? Is this Terrell's year?
The guy who beat RBY is back with Fix.Yeah I think most people will agree with you and for obvious reasons. And for the record I’m not saying Beau can’t get better and win it at 141. Really ? I thought they were done !! This Covid stuff is hard to track !!! I stand corrected if that is the case and probably change my whole argument. Can someone put a list of the top 3-4 All Americans that are returning next year. I seriously can’t figure out who comes back and who doesn’t. I guess I forgot Vito took an Olympic Redshirt for the Covid year. He will be 24 next year. Sheesh. The guy who beat RBY is back with Fix.
I agree with this. I think it’s a byproduct of not having a professional league (that isn’t fake anyway). In other sports, the kids want to go pro at 19 or 20. In wrestling, there is no “pro” So they extend their college eligibility to 24 or 25. It’s not good for the sport.I’m going to draw a lot of criticism for saying this but I’m over the 24-25 year olds competing. I don’t like it. I don’t like the gray shirts. I don’t like the kids being held back in high school. I realize Covid and Olympics affects things. But 5 years is plenty of time post graduation. If you are 19 at graduation then you still have plenty of time to wrestle in college. If I were king for a day, The minute you no longer qualify for U-23, you no longer qualify for eligibility in the NCAA. That is all, end rant. And yes I realize that affects our team. So be it. I don’t like it for the sport.
He did well in olympics right? He may just focus on that. Did he win third?I agree with this. I think it’s a byproduct of not having a professional league (that isn’t fake anyway). With that said, I doubt Fix will return. His dream of being a 5-time runner-up are gone, LOL. His 7th or 8th year or whatever it is will go about as well as Micic’s did.
I’ve had 3 kids since Fix started college and moved between homes and switched careers , many other big life things also , not all good . Just sayin lots of life has happenedHe did well in olympics right? He may just focus on that. Did he win third?
I think Beau will struggle with length no matter what weight he wrestles. There are some 133lbers with some length that would give Beau some problems.Yeah I think most people will agree with you and for obvious reasons. Agreed, especially after realizing Vito is back. I didn’t think Vito and Fix were back. Apparently they are.I think Beau will struggle with length no matter what weight he wrestles. There are some 133lbers with some length that would give Beau some problems.
Both are listed as Juniors on Intermat.Agreed, especially after realizing Vito is back. I didn’t think Vito and Fox were back. Apparently they are.
And with NIL, that potentially makes college a pro league. You might not get O$U football money, but the right guy in the right situation could make a nice bag.I agree with this. John Brooks liking this post seems notable.Does Brooks bump to 197?

How is Fix back?? Wasn’t he in same class with Yianni and Spencer? Spencer took a redshirt and Yianni didn’t enroll in 2021 ( basically Ivy way of redshirting) so how does Fix have another year since he redshirted as well? Did he get two redshirts along the way?Agreed, especially after realizing Vito is back. I didn’t think Vito and Fix were back. Apparently they are.
I was corrected in posts since. I did not realize Vito had more eligibility because Cornel didn’t get a Covid year. But he and Yianni did take an Olympic redshirt which I forgot about. So I stand corrected. You mean over Vito?

He isn't going to wrestle 133. He is very quick and strong at 141, and things seem to progress development wise much better when you are working on getting better versus always working on making weight.I was corrected in posts since. Who returns from 125? Glory is listed as a senior. Howard if healthy can with that weight. Drake with be a force there.Even without any new blood they should comfortably win a title. They're bringing back 6 guys who are going to put up around 80 points just on advancement/placement. If they can figure out a way to come up with another 15-20 from 125, 133, 165, 184/197 it will be another runaway.
Ramos, Noto, Barnett, McKee D'Augustino are the biggest names along with Ayala. I have a weird feeling that if Vito keeps going he's coming to PSU. They basically need one year and he could stay in the eastern USA while getting to train at the NLWC where former Cornell guys like Dake and Max Dean will be. If he comes in they'll definitely be better than they were this year.Who returns from 125? Glory is listed as a senior. Howard if healthy can with that weight. Drake with be a force there.
