Nickal v. Synder...who ya got

Long time reader, first time poster. Just my two cents on Bo wrestling at 97kg in Italy. Is if possible that he is still in the process of bulking up in order to be a legit 86kg and he is not to the point where he wants to cut yet?
Welcome. I'm giving this a Like for your great handle.

I think that theory is possible too. Getting a feel for 97kg guys isn't the worst thing if you're going to wrestle 86kg.

This doesn't make sense to me. Bo wrestled 197 pounds last season and now he is trying to bulk up to 189 pounds? Color me skeptic on this one.

He weighed in at 193lbs for final X. No, he's probably not under 189 right now--but he could be planning on cutting for trials but doesn't want to now.

Bo's Scraplife birthday picture in another thread seems to show a more well-developed neck than I recall. Whether it's just photo optics, I don't know. I suspect we will see physique changes similar to those of Taylor over the next year.

I was just hypothesizing that he most likely has a very detailed weight plan concerning the Olympic trials. It may be that the plan does not have him ready for a weight cut yet, or it very may well be that his plan is to bulk up to 97kg. I just personally doubt the latter.

I have been wrong at least one time already today however. Any doubts about that and I will let you get in contact with my wife.

And to be clear, 97 kg = 213 lbs, so he's probably well under that today and wouldn't stand a chance against a roid-evanding Iranian who probably cut down to 213.

Just watched Snyder's loss to the Iranian. Biggest issue seems to be the guy's length (and with plenty of power). Snyder had to really reach to get close to his legs, and the Iranian had good counters. I would wonder if a guy that huge might have gas tank issues if you can get that far against him. Snyder may have to be less aggressive early next time--but it may not be as bad as the score looked.

Edit--and I watched all of Bo's matches.
It's horsepower for him, clearly. He was spent at the end of his TF win over Germany (though not as spent as the German), and he was spent in his comeback against Kazakhstan (again, not as spent). Good ol' Bo--he went to the double-overs against that guy again and again, just didn't have the strength to win those battles. The Iranian just steamrolled over him.

My selfish hope is that Bo spends another quad bulking up to 97 before leaving freestyle. He's so good. I just don't think he has the power to compete for a medal at that weight this year.

Is there a rule against how many times you transfer? Or could someone go to a new school each year

“Real Wrestlers of Italy” show, if Askren has his way. ;)

Meaning what -- he's transferring, going MMA, something else?
Future plans weren't disclosed but sounded like he was done with college wrestling. Supposedly his father (and presumably Nick) was unhappy with how he was being treated and felt like he was being used but the program.

That complaint sounds familiar somehow.

Seems as though neither of them will ever be happy. Maybe the sport will be better off with someone else who can be.

Kid should have just gone the Pico route lol

He doesn't want to be on a team, he wants it to be about him

Re: Suriano

Zebra's don't change their stripes. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone if he leaves Rutgers ...
