Always thought this was a pretty picture of Sandy. ;)

Geeze, Sandy's mother passed away during the time Sandy accepted the AD's job at Penn State. If i'm reading the obit correctly, Sandy also had a sister that died, but makes no mention of D.O.D

Obituary


Nancy Sabalot Barbour, 90, a 17-year resident of Ginger Cove and formerly a 23-year resident of Annapolis, passed away August 1, 2014 at Ginger Cove. Mrs. Barbour, known as "Mimi" to her family, was born December 30, 1923 in San Diego, CA. She attended high school at Brent School in Baguio, Philippines then graduated from St. Agnes in Washington, DC. As a daughter of a Naval Officer and the wife of a Naval Aviator, she lived in China, the Philippines, Europe and on both coasts in the United States. She traveled extensively throughout the world. Mrs. Barbour was an important asset for 58 years of the men and women under her husband's command. Mrs. Barbour belonged to the Four Rivers Garden Club and volunteered at the Hammond Harwood House, the Naval Academy Gift Shop, and at services at Ginger Cove Health Center. Her hobbies and interests included travel, history (particularly China, France, England, WWII), reading, family genealogy, navy and civilian friends. She especially loved being involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and her four great grandsons! Mrs. Barbour is preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Henry S. Barbour, USN Ret., whom she married August 28, 1943 in the USNA Chapel and who passed away May 12, 2001, and a daughter, Janet Barbour Simons. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Barbour Moore of Pleasanton, CA and Anne "Sandy" Saunders Barbour of State College, PA; two grandchildren, Erin Moore Shriver of Iowa City, IA and Megan Macklin Moore of Lafayette, CA; four great-grandchildren, Rial Saunders and Roan Macklin Shriver, Miles Edward and Alexander Henry Mura; and many wonderful friends in Annapolis; and wherever the Navy has taken them. There will be graveside services on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the USNA Columbarium. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations in her name be made to the Ginger Cove Foundation, 4000 River Crescent Drive, Annapolis, MD 21401 Online condolences may be made to www.johnmtaylorfuneralhome.com
