Notre Dame or Georgia...

Georgia. And Arizona St

I hate Notre Dame and generally always root against them. Plus they are more commonly a team we recruit against.

I do hope ASU wins though to temper the SEC

I cannot stand even watching ND. Thus, I'd prefer playing Georgia. Even with their losses and often mediocre play this season, and the loss of their starting QB, they are still being picked to make the championship game by most pundits (another name for football idiots - Feinbaum, SEC shills, etc.). They also are supposed to have the best roster (with OSU) and coaching, so let's beat Boise and then beat Georgia.

I'd like to beat Texas for the title, but believe that it will be OSU or Oregon that will make it from the other side. I like that no one is giving us much of a shot.

Notre Dame's passing game is not good, and their #1 RB didn't seem totally right after that long run, and the hurdle later in the game was ill-advised.

And Notre Dame cookies are a thing for a reason, so I don't really see them getting the job done. And it's always a pleasure to see the Pennsylvania "Irish" upset!

Speaking as an Ohio State fan, I would want Notre Dame to win because it's roster is not as good as Georgia's. I think Ohio State is substantially better than Notre Dame and we have a better chance , if it came to it, in playing Notre Dame during the playoffs than we would have against Georgia.

How many points can UGA be expected to score against a really good ND defense with a qb who will be making his first career start? UGA’s offense wasn’t even that productive with Beck as their qb. I know that ND’s offense isn’t dynamic, but they’ll probably be able to grind out enough points to win that game.

Who are you rooting for? This is a tough one for me.

Notre Dame.

Just to listen to Paul Finebaum afterward would by itself be worth Georgia losing...but beyond that I've been an SEC-hater since I first started following college football as a kid in the mid-60s.

Also, true confessions: as an Irish Catholic, Notre Dame was my "second" team (after Penn State) back then and remained so until for various reasons I stopped caring much about them after Holtz left.

Those classic Irish matchups with Alabama, Texas, and Miami through the 70s and 80s were like religious wars. There was more than football at stake. Still think it's too bad that the fan bases of Notre Dame and Penn State hate the other's team with such passion.

After all, for a very long time, Notre Dame's philosophy of scholar-athletes, a concept that has become laughable these days, was quite similar to Paterno's. Both schools graduated the large majority of their players long after other big-name programs gave up even the pretense of educating theirs.

I also think it's ironic that the Glory Days of Notre Dame ended around the same time as did the Glory Days of Penn State. Success with honor...when pride still mattered...wake up the echoes...a world gone with the wind.

Anyway, I'm pretty much neutral about the Irish now but still hate the SEC so have to go with Notre Dame on January 1.

I think Georgia is going to win, and it is going to be a team speed issue for ND that will be exposed. I don’t expect the game to be particularly close.

But I feel that Penn State stands a good chance of beating either Georgia or ND if we make it past Boise.

Notre Dame hasn’t face a single team this year remotely as talented as Georgia. That doesn’t mean the Irish will lose of course, but they definitely have a highly likelihood of being overwhelmed than Georgia does who has actually played other higher caliber teams.

There is so much arrogance on both sides that it makes it really hard to pick a side. So, for me, it boils down to who do we match up better against if Penn State is fortunate enough to beat Boise. My opinion is we match up better against Notre Dame. I believe games against better opponents makes a team better - and Georgia has played better quality opponents. We also struggled against a top quality defensive opponent in Ohio State which George has a great defensive as well. I cannot openly root for Notre Dame but I think it increases PSUs chances of getting to the finals. So, as hard as it is for me to say this, I am going with them. An added bonus to Notre Dame winning is that it shuts up the likes of the Finebaums out there.

I think you might be right.

Well you've got a logical reason for favoring Notre Dame.

I think the wild card in this game is Georgia's inexperienced back-up quarterback. He wasn't asked to do all that much after Beck's injury against Texas but I think he'll have to produce against the Irish.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame is on a roll, playing at a high level on both sides of the ball. If they can play turnover-free football, I think they win. Vegas sees it as a very close game.

Go with the Dawgs. Do not like Notre Dump and their arrogance. Would be exciting to face Georgia in the Orange Bowl if we beat Boise. We can shut up SEC homer Finebaum by beating Georgia.

I was at the 1985 Notre Dame game as a student and snuck down to the 50 yd line first row at halftime (weather was miserable) - one of my best Penn State memories!
