Na, I'll give you the tissues as you're gonna need them when we send Franklin packing.Good now take your tissues and clean yourself up and go to sleep. Be quiet, you might wake mommy up.
Well fine then just sit there with jizz on you're hands. What's this "we" shit?Na, I'll give you the tissues as you're gonna need them when we send Franklin packing.
We. As in the majority of the board. You're in the minority now. Frankly it's beyond comical. It's glorious.Well fine then just sit there with jizz on you're hands. What's this "we" shit?
So, if I see this correctly, you joined this board in August of 2021, two months ago. Is that accurate? Perhaps you were posting under another name (or more than one other name)? We. As in the majority of the board. You're in the minority now. Frankly it's beyond comical. It's glorious.

With the talent he has he underperforms and he is average compared to strong and elite programs/ coaches. Stop comparing him to programs that either have little talent or do not care about football. Really we are going to put up the 130 Division 1 schools as a benchmark? I feel so good he has a better record than Akron, Ball State, Kansas and New Mexico. He is given great facilities, tons of money and to his credit is a very good recruiter thuz oozing with talent yet he does not produce in clutch games. His teams play too soft. Poor game plans. He is an average game day coach. The list of flops in key games is the evidence.I've said multiple times on here the Illinois game was unacceptable and he should be embarrassed by it and his record coming off of byes and losses.
I also live in the ****ing real world. If you think his record is average at best you don't understand what average means (it's a pretty simple word) and guys like Ruhle and Clawson have records so far below average they can't even see it. He's got the 25th highest winning percentage amongst active D1 coaches including his time at Vanderbilt of all places and the first couple of years here with the sanctions.
130 D1 schools. Better career winning percentage than 80% of active coaches. Feel free to argue we "deserve" better but its disingenuous to say his record is "average". The fact that you don't understand a simple word renders your argument invalid and I feel sorry for you.

All you have to do is read the posts after a loss….that proves what people expect.Who is expecting that?…read the post by lionpride90…that outlines reasonable expectations at blue blood program like PSU.
Generalization…does not equate to my opinionAll you have to do is read the posts after a loss….that proves what people expect.
Ask Nebraska what we should do.Franklin is what he is. He recruits well enough to have more talent on the field than most of his opponents. Therefore he wins most of his games. However, he isn’t going to out coach anyone to steal a game he shouldn’t win.
I’m torn. There are very few coaches who can recruit and coach. If we want to win championships? We will need to move on from Franklin. However, the chances of finding a guy who can do that isn’t very good. So are we happy with where we are at? Or do we strive for something better? I’m not really sure which path to take.
Or FSU, or Miami, or Texas, or USC, or Tennessee….you really want to go down this road?Or Bama.

Hard to have a bump when you’re starting near the top. A top three class is going to go nowhere but down if you change coaches.Depending on the new hire there is typically a ‘recruiting bump’ because of excitement around the program. Winning adds to this (Ryan Day at OSU; there is zero reason he should have better recruiting classes than Urban Meyer but here we are). I’m fine with CJF staying and making a run for the CFP - but, he had a legit chance this year and we imploded spectacularly. You just can’t be one or two injuries away from disaster and we are apparently. After eight years and neary two full recruiting cycles, there are lots of questions and recurring themes.
Sure…I would rather try to get better than accept mediocrity…there are numerous examples of going the other way: Clemson (Dabo), Florida State (Bowden), Oklahoma (Riley), USC (Petey), etc, etc, etc.Or FSU, or Miami, or Texas, or USC, or Tennessee….you really want to go down this road?

I think most of us are more concerned about wins on the field vs wins on the recruiting trail. If recruiting is the only concern? Franklin is probably a Top 3 coach. When it comes to winning on the field? He’s better than many but far from the top.Hard to have a bump when you’re starting near the top. Or Bama.
To be fair, it was only a "legit chance" for the CFP this year AFTER the wins over Wisconsin and Auburn...the early season success (rightly imho) changed expectations, but very few would have thought CFP in 2021 pre-season. 🤷♂️Depending on the new hire there is typically a ‘recruiting bump’ because of excitement around the program. Shula was one of manyMike Shula was 2 games above .500 and only had one winning record in his time at bama. He also earned himself some sanctions. Bama wasn’t risking anything by moving on.

Yes, he is a good recruiter, but even so his classes do not finish "top 3"...most of the time he successfully recruits some stars, but nowhere near the depth of the top 5 or so teams...he may be a top 3 recruiter, but due to PSU not having the "recruits itself" principle as much as it may have once had for various reasons, a top 3 recruiter still only gets a top 12 +/- class. 🤷♂️I think most of us are more concerned about wins on the field vs wins on the recruiting trail. Except for last year, the in-season (and especially end-of-season) top 10 rankings that he has achieved have been in line with or even better than his average recruiting class rankings for those classes fwiw...so it is difficult to say that his team consistently underachieves.
As stated in other threads, PSU is more prone to upsets than an OSU or AL because the line play is a great equalizer...OL & DL recruiting has not seemed to be on the same level as positions such as WR, LB or DB. When OSU and AL skilled players have a bad day, they can still bully themselves to an ugly win. PSU lines haven't...and although the starters can likely at least compete with any team, the depth is a more significant dropoff than having a Caleb Williams, for example, as a backup QB who is legitimately better than the starter.
CJF has certainly made mistakes...but imho if he leaves or is let go PSU will be WORSE...so it isn't necessary to defend everything he does or says to hold the position that keeping him is in the best interest of the program. At least we have something to complain about, because every year we seem to have a puncher's chance...how much less interesting it would be to have even less talent in the program and to not even be in that CFP or Big 10 championship conversation at all!
A new guy may not even give us a puncher’s chance at 6-6.Punchers chance at what?
Last year 4-5
This year 6-6
Lmao. Any depth lol to back a coach...I sure as hell hope you go to the ends of the earth to defend the new one, but something tells me you will follow Franklin and disappear on hereA new guy may not even give us a puncher’s chance at 6-6.
Shula was one of many
Nope, unlike some on here, I’m a PSU guy and I will support any coach we have that deserves support. I won’t even call for a new guy’s head after he goes 6-6 in year one, like the same people calling for Franklin’s head will do. According to many on here, if we get a new head coach, he better go 9-3 in year one and get better every year after that….gotta keep the criticism fair.Lmao. Any depth lol to back a coach...I sure as hell hope you go to the ends of the earth to defend the new one, but something tells me you will follow Franklin and disappear on here
I’d take it in a heartbeat beat…That's the point... Stallings resigned (another scandal) in 96 and they went through 3 coaches and a lot of bad football before they got to Saban. 4,7,10,3,7,10,4,6,10,6,Saban arrives and wins 7.
Bama isn't an example of a school that went from one winning coach to another. They averaged 6 wins a year for a decade before getting to Saban.
No, you wouldn’t. You have better than that now and you want him gone.I’d take it in a heartbeat beat…
What good is a top 3 class if you don’t win anything with them?Problem is finding someone who is also a top 3 recruiter.
What part of being in the top 10 at some point in almost every season (not last year obviously, but INCLUDING this current season, which was not based on pre-season hype, but instead was based on early season RESULTS) is confusing?Punchers chance at what?
Last year 4-5
This year 6-6
I’m not sure the “feelings / emotions” of yesterday’s game will ever go away.
That is some Batsh*t logic there. Isn’t it more important to finish in the top ten or better than be in it at some point? What part of being in the top 10 at some point in almost every season (not last year obviously, but INCLUDING this current season, which was not based on pre-season hype, but instead was based on early season RESULTS) is confusing?
Hanging around the top 10 may still be on the outside looking in but it is certainly as close as you can get without breaking through and gives opportunity for the breakthrough. There is a reason why the people calling for CJF's job refuse to name a realistic replacement who would undoubtedly do better...because outside of Saban said replacement would likely do WORSE.
I guess three 11 win seasons isn’t winning. Clemson better look to fire Dabo after this year. What good is a top 3 class if you don’t win anything with them?
Or we could not be in the top 10 at all like we’ve been so many years in the past….but selective memory is a tough thing to argue with. That is some Batsh*t logic there. Isn’t it more important to finish in the top ten or better than be in it at some point?
I’m not advocating firing him. I’m just realizing he is never going to take us further than where we are. I’m just not sure if I’m okay with that.I guess three 11 win seasons isn’t winning. Clemson better look to fire Dabo after this year.
Penn State HAS finished in the top 10 under Franklin...That is some Batsh*t logic there. Isn’t it more important to finish in the top ten or better than be in it at some point?
