Official March Madness thread.

He dribbled off his foot and grabbed it with both hands and then started to dribble again. Defense did not touch ball.

No call on a blatant double dribble by Virginia just ruined the tournament for me. Ref’s decide the game.
Last shot shouldn’t have been called since they missed the double dribble.
Awful!!!

It was far from blatant with the naked eye. I didn't pick up on it until Steratore brought it up, as in real time, I thought the Auburn player got a hand in there.

I swear some people just watch the games looking for questionable calls so they can spout their conspiracy theories instead of just enjoying a good game.

Understand the call, didn't love it. Ideally UVA would have made 2 of 3 FTs and then decide in overtime.

Well, the referees are paid professionals and shouldn’t miss such an obvious call. After all, they call plenty of other fouls during the game most folks don’t see.

Quarterback alums at the game:

Texas Tech: Patrick Mahomes
michigan state: kirk cousins

Advantage: Texas Tech

Halftime: Texas Tech 23, michigan state 21

Not much offense at the end of the half.

Unfortunately watched TT all year, their D is remarkable, absolutely remarkable. But they still couldn’t win in AFH!

Pulling for them tonight (and Monday), in my 8-person pool I grabbed them with my second pick (#11 overall).

It's good to see michigan state lose. They shouldn't be playing basketball anyway, or anything else for that matter.

jim delany can eat shit.

I don't think it will be possible for me to sleep tonite ........with a Smile this BIG for Sparty.

UVA - Texas Tech. I don't imagine that many folks had those two teams in playing for the championship in their pools.

Hopefully it's an entertaining game Monday night.

Total at 117.5. Glad the refs stuck with the conspiracy plan to give the NCAA a game that should be a ratings bonanza (and will be pleasing on the eyes).

Pretty remarkable the last six games all could have gone the other way. Would be interesting to find out how many brackets had a Virginia-TT final!

Yeah. Most controversial calls are judgement calls but there’s absolutely no question about last night’s being a double dribble. Glad I’m not an Auburn fan; I wouldn’t be able to sleep for weeks. Too bad.

Auburn would have given Tech a much better game than Virginia. I’m no expert but I don’t see Virginia beating Tech. Virginia just doesn’t match up well against that insane defense.

Virginia is one of the best offensive teams in the country. In what way does their offense not “match up” (especially in relation to Auburn)?

Not much of an inside game. You saw how well Tech bottled up Michigan State.

Not interested in getting in a back and forth about this but I just checked Virginia’s stats; they are 219th in points per game. Yes, they’re first in fewest points per game given up, but I’ve never seen them as being especially potent on offense.

Points/game is a meaningless stat. Their pace is the reason they don’t score a lot. They are 3rd in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency (which is the “truest” number to show how good an offense is).

I only played basketball for about one year when I was a kid and immediately said wait didn’t he double dribble? My wife, who played in HS said yes that’s definitely a double dribble. It was plain as day to anyone who knows anything about the rules.

I am really hoping TTU wins the national title. ESPN has gone into full looney mode, barely mentioning that TTU even exists. Clearly they wanted MSU to win. They also keep talking about the foul call overshadowing Virginia’s win. The foul call was fine. The double dribble was pathetic. ESPN is a totally dishonest organization. It is never even clear why they choose to spin some things
