Maybe it is the Philadelphia fan in me, maybe it is the result of having grown up with Depression era parents, but I am fearful of a bad outcome tomorrow, especially with the incredible amount of talent on hand. By bad outcome, I mean a loss that is 10 points or more and the fans are taken out of the game. I realize the era of respectable close losses (i.e. moral victories) is over, but they at least indicate competitiveness. I am hopeful of course, but my fear outweighs my hope. This game may determine our post season and will certainly be shaping the future.

I hear you. I feel somewhat the same way. But need perspective. Lose by 20 and life goes on. The effect on recruiting will be minimal. Team will get better and win other games. We will be somewhere NYD. Future is quite bright INDEPENDENT of Saturday's game.

We have a good team. tOSU has their problems. There have been lots of player changes for both teams so it is difficult to predict. Vegas, right more often than wrong, sees it as a close game with a slight edge to tOSU.

We've got every chance to win this game and our talent level is on a par. Plus we've got a third year starter at QB and they've got a great young kid starting his 4th or 5th game. Its a home game/whiteout. We've played tOSU well, even when undermanned, for the most part.

IMHO, 50/50 game. I'll be surprised if either team wins in a blowout.

Can't ask for more than a good game and effort. If we come up short, I only hope it's because the other team earned it, and we didn't give it away. If that's the case, no reason to sulk - on to next week. We lost to Pitt and Michigan two years ago and still won the B1G. Eyes on the prize.

No need to be fearful. Just accept the fact that we're gonna' lose...badly. OSU will crush us like a ripe grape. Trust me. I got some inside information from my Uncle Stush who has spoken with the barber of a 2nd cousin of an OSU starter. They have us figured out. It will get ugly. Also, be aware that, having picked 114 straight losers, I am due and I say OSU wins 49-27. Sorry. :(

I think it's a huge long term positive for the program if the white-out atmosphere is retained for the 4 quarters. If we lose by a large margin and the crowd is taken out I think we will still be good for years to come, but will unlikely overtake OSU in recruiting any time soon. That's why I see this game as pivotal.

Given the defensive replacements I have lower expectations, so winning the conference this year would be a bonus. The atmosphere is what will build recruiting momentum. Recruits want a great experience. Most are not yet aligned with a school so whoever wins is immaterial to them.

Don't be "fearful." Root hard if you are going to the game. Let go of any expectations, then no matter what happens you can still enjoy the game without disappointment, or become elated if we win.

"I think it's a huge long term positive for the program if the white-out atmosphere is retained for the 4 quarters". Knight who say Nit also said a mouthful. More than anything, I hope the crowd is wild right to the very end!

Oh, I'm so afraid....I need to share my pessimism, angst and terror with the board cuz I'm such a whiny whittle boy, I need my diapers changed because thoughts of the upcoming game has caused me to crap them... LMFAO, yea you're a veritable super-fan of PSU and it's football program - it's just so damb obvious. Again LMAO!

The outcome I'd be most surprised by is an Ohio State win by more than 10 points. I can see a close game or even possibly Ohio State collapsing like it did against Iowa last year.

Let me give you a cause for some optimism. I just watched the extended highlights again. I wish the full game was up, but the extended highlights were enough.

Basically, if you go back and you watch, the personnel that was gouged for the most yardage against Illinois was our second team defense.
Our first team did give up a touchdown and a field goal, but the rest were on the second team defense. Who basically was in every other series.

Even in App State, the dline made of of Joseph, Hansard, Shelton and Toney were the ones who gave up a lot of the big plays.

Miller, Givens, Windsor and Gross-Matos have been "relatively" solid so far this season.

That was ross tucker's take...the problem is I don't think you can rely on only playing the first team guys without rotations. Guessing that's why they're throwing thorpe over there.

Can't come out flat against teams like Iowa and Wisconsin. You beat those teams because you have more talent, which has to show up for the game. Those teams tend to grind it out.

What happened to OSU at Iowa often happens on the road after a big emotional win. You may feel you can't lose, but are nevertheless a bit expended. Same often happens after a loss that takes your team out of the running. That's what I think happened at the end of 1999.

I expect OSU to come to play tomorrow. They essentially had a by-week, but a game none-the-less to keep them loose. Despite the extra half day, it was away in to the west and late at night. We took some injuries in a conference game. Will our guys be well-rested? We'll see. Scheduling advantage -- OSU.

I expect Meyer to be prepared. He knows the stakes in terms of recruiting. He was surely preparing for PSU the week of the Tulane game.

I agree, but it is also a bit crazy to swap in a whole new line every other series. I get why they did it and hopefuly it will pay dividends as time goes on.
But we really got lucky especially in the App st. game obviously.

Well my prediction of 0-12 has already gone out the window.

Coach Franklin is over-rated - I think one of the Board Posters put it best, and I share his pessimism.... I not only hate us, but I hate everything about us especially that GD over-rated Franklin and his football team! I'm such a huge fan of PSU, it's really brutally unfair that I have to have Franklin and his team forced upon me as a PSU fan - again, which is forcing me to hate us!

We have better than a puncher's chance. Stay in the game into the fourth quarter and count on Trace and a madhouse stadium to win it. One late turnover would be key.

Advice from a Buckeye fan; if you have the means and ability go put a $100 (or whatever is a sizeable amount of $ for you) on tOSU to win.

Then you can't lose. Either PSU wins the game and you're pumped. Or they lose, but at least you win some cash. Really takes the edge off.

(j/k, I have never and would never do this, lol... hoping for a good game, go bucks!)

Only problem genius is that he isn't actually a PSU fan, but why am i not surprised a slack-jawed, duhO$U homer wouldn't be able to figure this out???

We have to win when we get these guys at home. Awfully tough to win at their place and it's awfully tough for them to win at ours. Haskins might turn into a great qb but the environment he's going to see will be new. We've been preparing for this game since the first day of camp. Throw out what the first 4 weeks looked like. I honestly feel like we win by 10-14 points.

yes you can, the line is OSU -3.5 so if the game were just like last year, PSU loses the game, but also OSU loses the bet!!

Go back to 2016. Both offenses are now better, even though PSU lost some major star power. OSU’s defense looks similar to 2016. Our defense, I dunno. What made the difference in the 2016 game for us was getting Cabinda and Bell back. We do get Simmons back, but who knows for how much. Maybe our defense can play better than it has, especially the LB’s.

We will be fine, just relish the moment. This is a huge game with national championship implications and it’s at HOME!!!
Just think of that.
It’s the biggest game of the year in all of college football. The world is watching, and it’s in our house!
What a great day for Penn State.
We’ve come a long way and been through a lot, now it’s time to have some fun.
And win or lose, we will be fine, we’ve overcome far bigger hardships than losing to OSU at home.
And no matter what happens, this team has a good shot to finish in the top 10, 3 years in a row.
I can’t wait for tomorrow night, it’s going to be a blast.
And we are underdogs, what more could we ask for in a glorious victory.
