Ohio State vs Texas game thread

Allar either checks down too fast or totally misses the check down - either with an no throw or a bad throw.

Watching these other qbs it is so evident how badly drew crapped the bed last night.
They’ve scored 14 points!

Holding also doesn’t exist in this game either. Officials are refusing to call holding in pass pro. Holds are absolute drivel killers but I don’t like the amount they’re allowing as it changes the game too much. And this is coming from a former offensive lineman.

A rb screen pass for osu going for a td is what we do not run enough with Singleton. On Allar’s final int singleton was open in the right flat for a potentially long gain. Allar never saw him.
I don't understand why people struggle with this
A screen pass is by design--under no circumstance in last night's game at the end do we want a check down--it's better than a pick but Allar isn't supposed to check down there. Blame him for not dirting it like he wanted but he's not going to check down to the flat there. If he is--just take a knee

They’ve scored 14 points!
It's predictable that they watched tonight's game and are still clueless
Again, we scored 24 last night--should have been enough to win
Ewers probably should have been picked 4 times tonight

So how are all the chicken Littles saying losing to ND was better than getting the doors blown off by OSU feeling?

Notice that Ewers has an outlet on nearly every pass play. He's used it quite a bit tonight to avoid sacks and poor throws downfield.

I wish Coach AK had been doing that for Allar, and coaching him to use it. Might not have picked up the bad habits with his feet.
It also would be nice for AK to simply add what EVERY team seemingly has...crossing routes, rub routes, flood WRs to one side to create space for the single WR on the other....u know, ways to get them open! Our WRs run the same terrible routes with no separation...up to the coaches to help mitigate weaknesses.

I think many people still think Ohio State would destroy us
I don't think it would be a blowout--I don't have any faith in us beating them--we can't beat ND who we have more talent than

I think we're the only college team that doesn't run flood routes

Chip and Sark are arguably the best and most experienced play callers in the game. I don’t disagree but I think AK is close and will be better next year.

I think he’s the best we’ve had in the Franklin era.

We always seem to have an offensive coordinator that won’t add something to the playbook as some weird hill to die on. Moorhead refusing to go under center for very short yardage was infuriating and cost us games.

Yeah, no question those 2 guys are incredible play callers and play designers. But what i'm asking for are basic concepts to get guys open that every team runs, and that doesn't require some magical architectural design

Ohio state beats penn state because of the goal line stand and now they did it to texas.Games are still won at the line of scrimmage in large part.

It is frustrating for sure--hopefully we change
It's funny that we hear about how Allar won't throw the ball away--he was sacked ONCE yesterday
Less than any of QB in the final 4. Ewers must be garbage too

Wait now... that's two years in a row that Texas has gotten to the semi finals and could not win the big one. Will this ever be discussed? Probably not.
That Washington loss was bad--this one--meh
They played better than I expected today to be honest

We’ve been hoping for some form of change for 8 years. Seems our pieces to be a complete team always miss each other.

Allar was far from our only problem. Lots of blame to go around.

Guess a BIG national champion again is better for us given the renewed focus on conference “quality”

But that is two straight years at the doorstep with failure. No, it's not Franklin, we all know we have the all time unbreakable Pete Rose records there, but still...why is it only James and nobody else?

I don't think it's "only James"
I just think its louder for James because of the top 5 record.

Because he literally hasn't had one of these wins since 2016... and sark at least made the playoffs in the four team system

Those are 2 really good CF teams. I picked Texas at the beginning of the season but OSU just has too much for them

For all the Franklin haters out there… that was some awful play call on 2nd down by the Texas braintrust….. hard to believe how much money some of these people get paid.

There was a huge play--any announcer would react
The Herbie hate is odd--he's probably our biggest defender in the media

No one here is ever going to forgive him for coining the term flukey to discredit our win over the buckeyes in 2016. He led the media charge against us in favor of his buckeyes.

Our wide receivers can't beat man coverage of any kind against good defensive backs. They are just not physical enough.

A crossing route (which was tried) won't work against man coverage unless you can set some kind of rub. I wouldn't bet on our WRs to execute that. I would do it with the tight ends. At least they have a chance at making a contested catch.

This team just did not have a Godwin type of receiver, and you can't survive without this type of WR with the way defensive holding/interference is officiated these days.

The only catches that are high percentage are the WR screens.

It is what it is. Franklin needs to recognize the constraints and the need, then recruit accordingly.

I mean--but he was right there.
Ohio State had the better resume and we saw that no 2-loss team ever got a 1-loss team in the 4 teamer
We still should have been in over Washington in 2016

The WR room has multiple 3 and 4 star guys...and a 5 if we count Fleming. It's an epic fail all around that not one is worth crap. From the strength and conditioning program, to the position coaches teaching route running, to james's ability to find talent at that position, to literally whiff on a room of about a dozen guys is incredible.
