Here's your #1 pick...Like this kid alot. Have seen him 3 times now and he is impressive. And the Steelers have to address the QB future very soon..I also think he will be there when they draft....

Not sold on that....the Steelers QB when Ben retires is currently on another NFL roster. It only takes one team to fall in love with a QB so it's possible Rudolph goes in the first but that's a reach. JMO

Sorry...not a reach at all...this kid is really good. In fact, if he is there at 30 or 31 he is a steal...can make every throw, is big, and can move.

Long draft process...he may end up mid-first...he may end up late 2nd or early 3rd. We disagree about him being able to make every throw. Average arm strength IMO and I'm not convinced he can make throws into tight windows...see the separate this OK State offense creates for him. I won't be angry if the Steelers take him but I think they'll add a veteran like Keenum if Ben leaves.

I like this kid a ton...but we can agree that the Steelers need to somehow address the pending QB situation....

He is good.....no way he’d fall into the third round unless he forgets to show up at the NFL Combine.

I actually think Mason Rudolph is the best pro-style QB in this year’s draft.

Absolutely. We just disagree on Rudolph which is fine. Lots of knowledgable people thought Leaf-Peyton was debatable and Brady fell to the 6th round. Everything is opinion.

Here's WF's report on Rudolph. I'm definitely not alone in believing he can fall to the third. I was happy to see it pretty much matches my thoughts. WF is by far the most reliable. I disagree greatly with them on Drew Lock though so...

Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.85.
Projected Round (2018): 3-4.

12/28/17: Rudolph is a love/hate prospect in the scouting community. One team source likes Rudolph, but many others are skeptics. A general manager of a playoff team told me they had Rudolph graded on the third day of the 2018 NFL Draft. Another NFC general manager said they thought Rudolph could go on Day 2. An AFC college scouting director of a playoff team said they were giving Rudolph a fifth-round grade. One area scout said that they were really concerned with how Rudolph struggles throwing into tight windows, because he won't have receivers running wide open like they have been for him at Oklahoma State. Given the big discrepancy, Rudolph could go in the early rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft, because it only takes one team to fall in love. Many teams don't like him, however, and have his grade low.

Rudolph will need development as a pro. He will have to work on his shaky accuracy and field vision, plus get used to playing under center and calling plays in the huddle. Rudolph is also not very athletic, though he has good size with average arm strength. Going through progressions and reading the field are problems for Rudolph, and he has to improve there for the NFL. His anticipation is terrible, too, and that will have to improve for the pros, or he could be taking a lot of sacks from holding onto the ball too long.

Rudolph didn't have his typical performance when TCU dropped Oklahoma State. He completed 22-of-41 for 398 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions against the Horned Frogs. Previously this season, Rudolph lit up Tulsa, South Alabama and Pittsburgh. Rudolph didn't play well against Texas and had a plethora of interceptions dropped versus West Virginia.

The Steelers scouted the Hell out of Patrick Mahomes last year and were supposedly prepared to take him. So there's your template in what they're looking for.

As a Browns sometime fan, I hope the Stoolers take him as their next QB. Saw the game in person. He is not very good. Looked worse than the Browns Cody Kessler, not the strongest arm and not very accurate.

Not very good? He threw for almost 400 yards.

How about Joshua Dobbs for the Steelers QB future?

4th rounder out of TN who sat this year; what's the feedback on his progress?

Another clown who thinks Browns will beat the Steelers. Fans could play the Browns and still win. Cleveland has given up and will be 0-16.

Nate, I thought we were better friends than that sir? Clown?? Oh no dear sir.

I actually "borrowed" that JV phrase and possible result from a Yahoo Sports article.

I'll advise the writer to stop clowning around sir.

Considering how good the Brown's are at picking QB's you better hope they, Steelers, don't take him.
I was impressed with him and have been all season.

He moves around pretty good for a big guy, but his arm is weak. Guys are always wide open for him. But I'd take a flyer on him in Round 3.

I told you last week we wouldn't risk injury
The Jets have Petty as their QB now--different situation
They also had Hack putting some time in with the first team in practice. Apparently it was his first time. Take it for what it's worth, but I think Hack will see some playing time. I just hope it's because the Jets are up by 30.

I'd love to see Hack play this week. I don't think it helps the Jets win but I just want to see the kid get one shot.

Bell and Ben are not playing from what Pouncey indicated sir.

Is Brady playing? This is one of the dumbest things ever. The guys have played 15 football games without injury. I am a big believer that sitting guys takes them out of a groove. Steelers will lose their first playoff game.

Beware the Big 12 QB. Often Fools Gold due to the execrable defenses they face

Yea the Landry Jones experiment was or should be proof of that. Its one of the reasons I'm hesitant about the OSU kid.
Its also the reason I would run away from the kid at WSU. Mike Leach has some good college QB's but they are the definition of "system" players.

I agree treat it like the game it is. If they are winning by 30 in the 4th quarter then pull them.

So the Patriots ended up trading Garoppolo for what is going to end up being around the 40-42nd pick. Likely the Pats wouldn't have been willing to trade within the conference, but am I the only Steelers fan who would've given up our 1st round pick (26th-32nd overall) for Jimmy? I'd have done that in a heartbeat and been set at QB for the next decade plus.

Regarding Rudolph, I wasn't crazy about what I saw of him this year. You can't measure these college QBs solely on stats because they get so many opportunities in the Big 12 to hit wide open receivers for 70 yard TDs. What mattered more to me was when I watched Rudolph stare down a receiver in the red zone that was covered by multiple guys, never go through a progression, try to force it and throw the INT (against Oklahoma on a pivotal drive). That kind of play out of an experienced senior gives me tremendous pause regarding his NFL potential.

Regarding Dobbs, I was very excited about the pick at the time. Guy is brilliant, athletic, etc. Problem is he's not very good. Neither is Landry. Steelers QB future is concerning right now.

When I watched him he was throwing across his body into the arms of the other team's DB's. Looks like a Browns QB. Not a Steelers QB.

Steelers will find a better QB than this kid.

The Steelers don't care if they win or lose this weekend. Maybe sitting Ben & Bell (and other Cam, Pouncey, etc) will hurt us when the playoffs start but once we lost to NE we all know the road to the Super Bowl wasn't going through Pittsburgh unless KC, BAL, TEN, BUF or LAC can beat NE on the road.

KC, Baltimore, or Jacksonville can beat NE.
They can beat Pittsburgh also.

Tennessee isn’t very good.

wouldn’t shock me if the AFC title game isn’t NE and/or Pittsburgh.

I wouldn't be shocked by that either but it's almost impossible for NE to play JAX in the conference semifinals since JAX is locked into the 3 spot. Jacksonville can beat Pittsburgh and Kansas City can beat New England--we saw that already this year. Kansas City at Jacksonville is definitely possible.
