From the play-by-play gamecast of the last Red Sox hitter (Holt) in the 9thCalled 3rd strike for the 3rd out, and Seranthony gets the save. Phil's win 3-1. Arietta with a nice job as the starter
Was at both Boston games and it is frustrating to watch the (lack of) hitting with RISP, but I must admit Carlos had a big hit to get the insurance run. Dominguez made it interesting in the ninth, but I will take a split with the best team in baseball.
And it was my birthday today (yesterday)! Extra glad they got the victory for me.Agree, though the Sox had even worse success in converting RISP. Nola + Arieta + a good showing by the bullpen = impressive.

I can live with that many strikeouts if he's getting that number of walks. That means he's on base about 40% of the time where he doesn't put the ball into play.Rhys Hoskins is now IMO a legit star in this league
Thru 149 career games over 2 seasons
.383 OB%
.554 Slugging
.936 OPS
146 OPS+
40 Home Runs (162 game pace of 43)
119 RBI (162 game pace of 129)
98 BB (162 game pace of 107)
5.0 Offensive War (we won’t mention his defensive metrics )
150 Ks is too much, but you can live with it when he’s putting up those other numbers. The 98 walks for a guy this young is insanely impressive
936 ops is really good, so yeah, I can live with the K'sRhys Hoskins is now IMO a legit star in this league

Could be they were worried about walking in the winning run with the bases loaded since the closer was having major control issues the whole inning and with Franco sporting an 0-3 on the night figured they could get him out.Maybe Mattingly figured they'd take their chances as Franco was 0-3 on the night. I thought with the base open they might have walked him too. Ball didn't look like it was going out but it sure did. Gotta win 3 of 4 here this weekend.
I actually like Quinn better right now. Jones is not doing much this year and I think Quinn will be the better player at this point in time...see the Red Sox game the other night....plus he has something you can't teach...SPEED....and can be a very valuable piece down the stretch. Just hope he stays healthy. I think he is the long term solution in CF if he stays healthy. Trout may come along and he may take CF or LF...we'll see. I think the Phils will move on from Oduble at some point as he is just to streaky and takes too many plays/pitches off and becomes a liability because of it.It’s a shame Adam Jones elected to not join the Phillies. He could have been another piece. The bench has been short but they would have had some nice bench players and spot starters.

Jones bought Cal Ripken's $12.5MM home in auction for $3.4MM this Summer. Sounds like he just wants to finish his career in Baltimore.
Seranthony becoming a master of the 4-out save.
His AB was a crowd-pleaser. Not on TV in St. Coll tonight but I saw the post game. V.V. played a hell of a game pitching and at the plate and on the base paths. Great to see.
Hoskins impresses once again. Looking forward to adding Ramos to this lineup.
Franco's defense most of the year has been Schmitty-esque.
