Replaced sidedoor doorbell, button illuminates but no chime when pushed. Front doorbell works, both doorbells share the same chime.
It's not that, this is the second new one.Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right.
If it lights, it's getting power. SO the button isn't making contact when you push it- they are cheap. just get another one.
No. Chime works for front door, but not this (side) one. They share the dame chime. Is there a battery in the button or the bell mech.
Can you post a pic of your ding-dong ?

"No charge".
Peter Sellers' Clouseau is one of my all-time fave characters. I laughed at this clip now as much as I did when I first watched that great comedy... in college in the late 70s, I think.
Thanks for posting that!
Wouldn’t that indicate the transform is good and there is a problem with the piston. May just need a little lube to keep it from sticking. Most door bells I’ve seen have two pistons.I think it is the transformer and it appears the transformer is located in the chime box. Hit front door, "piston" thingy goes up and down. Hit side door, get buzzing sound (like a mechanical attempt) but piston thingy does not go up and down.
