OT: Fri jukebox...I give you Boz Scaggs and what was to become Toto...

Cheap Trick played Bucknell the same year this video was filmed. Sort of like J. Geils getting booked at PSU right before Centerfold.

Discovered by Jeff Baxter, very short lived success, but for five minutes, they had two hits on the top 100. From LA, "Sneaker"...

Another FANTASTIC group of musicians who never got recognized as such, because of their freakish run of hits. Listen to the two horn solos, just unreal.

Three original members also were in "Classics IV". TREMENDOUS session band and studio band who were criminally underrated. As far as musicianship, ARS was THE best of the Southern rock bands and yes, I am including the Allman Brothers.
Skynyrd (at one time) had the guitars. ARS was more jazzy.

I was at that J.Geils concert at Rec Hall with the lovely future Mrs CF. Couldn't hear quite right for days, mostly due to Magic Dick and his amped up harmonica.

My favorite of the genre, because of the catchy pop song writing. Somewhat different from the bulk of the bands, stylistically.

No argument from me. Imaginary Lover, So Into You, Spooky....GREAT songs. Damn good musicianship on those tunes too.

Now that The Outlaws have been brought up - Glen and Roy:

One of my all time favorites! Introducing by the Cos and check out the hideous teeth on singer DAVID Palmer. That dude needed serious orthodontics! I also love the crazy 70's shirts! And Skunk Baxter pre Doobie Brothers!

Like I said. Skynyrd had the guitars.

If you just ffw this to the 5:30 mark (it's a 12 minute video) you see just an onslaught of guitar that just goes on and on and on. I don't think Britain had ever seen anything like this before. This was the concert that the Stones were left exposed w/out Mick Taylor.

Starbuck -- another '70s Southern band. One of the keyboard players, Dave Shaver, is a Penn Stater.

I believe it's on one of the Duane anthology albums. It's truly a masterpiece. To me, Duane was God, not Clapton.

It was incredible how good he was. And even more amazing was how many albums he played on in such a short amount of time. Had he lived, he might have been recognized as the greatest American guitarist of his time. Should have been.
