OT: PSU Football

Drew Allar may not be the best QB in the CFP, but he is the luckiest by a wide margin.

Great recruiter but the record speaks for it's self. This has gotten old now. The best pair of backs in the country, the best tight end and the best edge rusher and still can't get it done. It's time to look at options.

I think Tomlin and Franklin should swap positions. Then both team's fans will have fresh reasons to bitch for the next decade.

Justifiably.

Franklin gets way more credit for recruiting than he deserves. He's a good, maybe great, definitely not elite recruiter. He typically ends recruiting seasons ranked somewhere between 10 and 15.

Of the 4 guys you mention, only Nick Singleton was a consensus 5 star.

Allar was tight all game. Throwing off his backfoot and forcing the ball into coverage.
He was lucky numerous times. His luck ran out.
I have to admit that during the pre-game interview he said that he looks forward to getting the ball in his hands at the end to WIN the game. I was thinking to myself that he needs to go to Cael school. You want the ball at the end of the game to have fun and perform as well as you have trained to play.

I thought the coaching/game management was relatively clean in that game, for once. Just a few mistakes will cost ya.
Kotelnicki hasn't called a good game since before tOSU. Constantly throwing when he should be pounding the rock. Drew played terribly, but AK has not done a good job.

Solid game plan. Had some bad football luck, 2 DBs fall down on the same play resulting in a long TD pass. Carter somehow can’t come up with a fumble at the end of the first half.

The game came down to which QB could make some plays in the passing game. Leonard made some, Allar failed miserably.

Allar even competent last night PSU wins in a blowout. That simple.

You are spot on about Drew. He did not make plays and was woefully inconsistent. It was like the moment was too big for him.

Credit to ND who I am sure threw some wrinkles that confused Drew, but his decisions were poor and his accuracy iffy. He had receivers open all night per the broadcast crew. The int at the end was abysmal WTF moment. You had singleton open in flat as a check down. Bad decision making at the qb position. In all honesty I think Prebula as the starter would have won this particular game.

I am less impressed by the game plan. As an ND fan I am pretty surprised PSU failed to capitalize on their complete domination at the line of scrimmage.

Lucky we get to wash most of the stink of the loss last night by watching the greatest Penn State sports team in a generation tonight. Will ride the wrestling wave through March. Thank god for Cael!
It's the greatest sports team ever at psu

Our receivers caught zero balls for zero yards. That's not on the coaches
We will have to agree to disagree on this.

Who recruited the receivers? The coaches
Who teaches the receivers to get separation? The coaches
Who game plans schemes and mechanisms to get receivers open? The coaches
Who makes sure the QB is loose and the moment isn't too big for him? The coaches
Who works with the QB to improve accuracy? The coaches
Who makes adjustments if the passing game isn't working? The coaches

Talent is great but greatness comes from coaches.

You beat me to it.

Anyone else wake up at 2am with an Int stuck on the brain? A win last night would've really helped the program but now I'm concerned it could make it step back. The team has been moving in right direction but damnit if it isn't a snals pace.

I think guys have been coached since grade school how to catch the ball, and get open. If these guys can't do it it's on them.

I assume D1 receivers have at least caught a ball before and have been open already. Same as the defenders . I assume they've been coached to not fall down.
