OT: PSU fraternity system on the ropes. Down to 36 chapters from 54 not long ago. Houses being suspended and shut down by the University.

Just remembered a story. Harry and I were rolling up the walk on a Saturday night and 3 big footballers were escorting their big white fellow player out of th3 house with a bloody nose. Harry probably remembers the player
I know who you mean, and forget her name. Never met her. Tommy Lape was from Lancaster and I played a lot of junior and amateur w/ and against him.
Decades ago it was really easy to get on any guest list! I was a vet and over 21, so every weekend I had three options: "Our" as in my own and/or party friends apartment(s) and we were really good at it! I think we averaged like 6 kegs/month; frats or just the bars. Seemed mostly one weekend night apartment party and the other a frat party and the bars mostly Thursday nights! The vets house was not short on good parties either let me tell you. Funny thing, one of out apartment mates was a "famous" humanitarian. He was active in all kinds of organizations. He was a vet house member although never a vet! Despite my drunken, "home from the war with lead in me," I recall only one significant moment of debauchery. On "Gentle Thursday" I was drinking and toking with all on the "lawn" then went down to the skeller for lunch. Drank a pitcher with lunch and requested a six pack to go. The bartender asked for ID and I guess I "arrogantly" replied, "Been sitting right there for 30 minutes drinking a pitcher!" He did a "disgusted" double take body language turn and left. My buddy says, "Apologize, he's from back home!" He comes back with the goods and I do, stating, "I'm just drunk!" He says, "Just get out!" To which I replied, "F you then!" and around he came. 12 noon, filled with business folks, lol! He had these faded to white jeans on just begging for a one leg to which I obliged. I was really long armed so he could never touch me any way but I was on top of him flailing away. Being drunk, before I dropped him, his punches appeared in slow motion! I'm not sure it even lasted a full minute and I was pulled of of him and it was over! Funny thing was, the next few days on campus, folks kept coming up to me telling me how "they heard!"

Agree, in 20 years of teaching, talking to my former students that come back or ones I stay in some form of contact with every year, it seems less and less talk about joining a fraternity/sorority. The only group I would say that it is still very strong in is the African American community, as almost every one of the former students I talk to has joined one.
No. They're being pulled into the sjw scene. They don't have much of a choice. They don't set the terms.

I could write a book about those times. JVP was the AD and he wanted FB players to live w/ golf team guys in Hamilton thinking we would be a good influence on them. It worked in reverse, as the golf team was mostly a bunch of degenerates and the FB players were eager to follow along.
BTW - I consider this the most beautiful house (fraternity or otherwise) in Centre County. Hands down. I'm biased though. And I know about the secret rooms.My old house comes w/ a double lot. Imagine how many condos they could build here!
And location of Beta and a couple of others are prime, on campus real estate for PSU.
I should say that Beta and the old KDR are just as beautiful as Chi Phi, but smaller. As to Beta, yeah...create a scandal, back it up w/ some willing media, and well we know the rest of the story, huh?
Chi O got the axe for making fun of Mexicans. Maybe they should have thought that one through.

I am not condoning or criticizing their behavior. It was stupid of them to post photos of their party dressed as Mexicans talking about their lawn maintenance people. These types of things have consequences and Chi O apparently didn’t anticipate that the reaction would not be in their self interest as some people would view it as racist. Whatever jokes I’ve told in my lifetime is not relevant to this conversation.
Regardless, if you have indeed made fun of a Mexican, I think you should be cancelled. Your business, your friends - all of it should go away. Not tomorrow. Now. Today. You should have thought about your actions beforehand like you say the Chi Omegas should have.
Isn’t/Wasn’t AXS the fraternity for Chemistry majors?

I agree. All racist organizations, including where applicable fraternities and sororities, and those that defend them. should go away. We don’t need them or white supremacists in any form in a civilized society.
Acacia, Beta Sigma Beta Placed On Interim Suspension Following Alleged Gatherings
