OT, SIAP. Houston Astros accused of using technology to steal signs.

Easy decision. They have to have a skipper and gm next year

I know that. However the alleged meat of MLB's penalty was the suspension without pay. I'm wondering if now that they've been officially fired rather than just temporarily relieved of their duties if their contract stipulates that they will get paid as part of a standard buyout. Remember when Ohio State fired Jim O'Brien when he admitted to giving a recruit money? He sued OSU for breach of contract, etc. and won.

This cheating is getting bizaar. Now the reports states that Altuve and Bregman wore buzzers under their jerseys to signal in the stolen pitch signs. Here is a video of Altuve coming around in the series walk-off home run supposedly telling his teammates to NOT rip his shirt off.

So Altuve is a fraud....good to know.

Given that they were both fired for cause, I truly doubt they will be paid the balance of their contract

Big deal. All teams attempt to steal catchers and 3rd base coaches signs. Oh! How long? Since 1st game played.

This is a bit different. They were filming the signs and using people in staff positions (not on the bench) to steal them. Then there relaying the data by hitting a garbage can (confirmed) and/or sending them via wireless taped onto player's bodies (rumored). This is institutional, not a baserunner on second relaying signs to the batter

Pitt Panther football team has claimed this World Series and changed it to another college football national championship.
Trophy will look nice sitting beside the other one they claimed from the 1994 series. I think they have also claimed all of Lance Armstrong's forfeited TDF titles.

The commissioner needs to resign. He's basing his plans on contracting 44 minor league teams on the Astro's methods of leaner farm teams, more metrics, and more computer analysis.

Meanwhile, they simply cheated.

I just don’t get why catchers and pitchers can’t receive signals from the dugout through an earpiece. NFL QB’s have been doing this for at least a decade.

Of course that doesn’t change the fact that these two teams were cheating, but it would have essentially eliminated it.

Pete Rose for Commissioner!

I noticed a few things while watching the recent World Series, and the Nationals pitchers mentioned that they were tipping their pitches early in the games. In the Series, games 1,2,6,7 were in Houston, and here's an interesting selection:

Game 1: Astros score 2 in first inning against Scherzer, lose 5-4.
Game 2: Astros score 2 in first inning against Strasburg, lose 12-3.
Game 6: Astros score 2 in first against Strasburg, lose 7-2.

Makes you wonder.
This really sucks for the Dodger players. They got close to their dream of a World Series title only to lose to the two cheating teams. The Astros and Red Sox should be stripped of their titles.
Kershaw's legacy of tanking in the post season was enhanced by his opponents cheating.
It also sucks for Dodger fans like me.

I can well imagine. I'm a Nationals fan and the world is a safer place today because they won and I'm not crazy pissed.

The F'in Cubs did it for years, and probably still do, inside that old wooden scoreboard.

I do hate them so.

And against the San Francisco Giants, what excuse do you use?

I hate the Dodgers so.

And Tommy LaSorda DID instruct his pitchers to throw at batters. Just ask Jim Leyland.

And, my aunt practically died when they moved their Dodger-town spring complex to AZ.

Sorry, but I have an opposite opinion.

I respect yours though.

Why is MLB tiptoeing around the players' union so much? I was in a union for 25 years. There were still company regs that if you blew them off the union wasn't going to back you. If these players (who are going to skate) were doing the cream and the clear they'd be on the pine for half a season. I understand deals were cut with some players w/r/t immunity but not all of them. Also @MtNittany you make a great point re: minor league contraction.

Different union. One has nothing to do with the other.

I say embrace the sign stealing. It is NOT against the rules.

Tell the pitchers to do their job and not wait 2 minutes between pitches. If they throw the ball there would not be enough time to relay the signs. The teams could also pull a greg Brady and change the playbook.

The Red Sox shouldn't be playing in the Little League Classic in Williamsport. Get another matchup.
